Foundation, mascara and crap like that show up more on white whereas toothpaste would show up more on dark. Just clean it! I had night sky which I found annoying to keep clean but only if the sun or spotlights are on it. A daily wipe or whenever visitors come should manage it. If you like the look better I'd just keep it.
