We had five brickies working at once too it was awesome. They smashed out the bricking in about four days for our house! Any house plans or selections for us to see? Hello and Thanks! I am building the Attenborough from Burbank. We have done a few changes to the plans, like a large alfresco and all those upgrades that make you feel good like stone bench tops, higher ceilings, internal doors.... I'm not great with a lot of detail, if you like all that stuff check out Metones thread she has all the detials and specs going. I just thought I put as much of my build to help others and also if I ever want to look back in time : ) Re: Double Story Build 10Apr 06, 2014 8:45 pm Thanks Metone, Trambay and Tnikki. We had a week between the frame finishing and the brickies starting, but they are moving along great guns. I will be surprised if they are not finished the ground floor by the end of the week. I’ll post a few pics soon. We had a little annoyance this week. We had an independent inspector check the frame. Our SS picked up most of the issues, our guy picked up a few. We sent through the report last Wednesday. One of the issues is the studs (beams) holding up the porch and alfresco all had splits in them. Some were very thin splits but others where quite wide. All the studs where meant to be repaired. All studs are going to be bricked in by pillars. So we are trying to sit back and follow Burbanks process as requested. I have not heard from anyone at Burbank now for two weeks on Monday (because I haven’t contacted them). Mid week they had completed the brick work around the porch, and fixed only one stud at the back. They had laid the first bricks around all the studs too. So the next day they were all going to be bricked and only one fixed! I emailed by admin girl and the SS took a photo of the one fixed stud. I have now emailed asking if they were all fixed. We have taken a photo down the pillars and with zoom we can see they have not. What to do? I don’t want to annoy them completely, so early in the build but I feel they should have discussed not fixing the studs with me if they did not consider it a problem. Am I wrong or out of line? Hi dsbuild, the post/stud that holding up my porch has thin splits too, I think it sould be okay if it's natural grain of the wood, they would risk to put defective timber into the structure IMO, well, at least the house shall stand there for 30 years Re: Double Story Build 14Apr 15, 2014 2:32 pm Hello All! In two of the studs they are hair line splits. In two they are quite major cracks (I'll post a photo a bit later). Long story short via our admin girl the SS said that all the studs where fixed. We have a photo showing they were not! I didn't do anything about it for a few days. The fact that they were misleading to me rather than just telling me the truth doesn’t impress me too much. On the other hand they have a 30 year structural warranty.... and we have a photo so if something goes wrong.... Then yesterday the SS boss rang me to ensure me they were all fixed. So I told him they were not unless you fixed them at different times... also no they would have all been fixed at once. So his looking in it and is going to get back to me today. I am not going to get them to fix the studs, I just want a reasonable working way of moving forward so problems don’t get covered up. (I do believe the whole thing has just been an accident). . The ground brick work apart from the back around the slidng door was completed during the week. I assuming they will come back to this later. The rain stopped progress. The scafolding has been delivered. I am hoping it will go up before Easter. I am assuming nothing will be done now until the last week in April. Dam Rain I could have had a roof! lol! Sorry I have been a bit slack! We are just about at lock up. I think they may be finishing off the brick work today. I drove past on Monday to see if they where bricking and most of it was done. My SS was there by chance. So we got to meet and have a talk. There was some slight problem with the contrast brick work at the front, so we discussed the options. Heater, electrical rough in, eaves, shower and basins, solar panels the rest of the windows (we have been missing over half) will all be done in the next two weeks. SS said he was going to wait until the brick work was really dried out before acid washing the bricks, so the scaffolding might stay up a bit longer. I agree with every other post I have read.... The bricking is very very neat and they have done a great job. Now that it's getting dark early and most of the work is going to be done on the inside.... I will need to wait till the weekends to have a look and see what's going on. Happy Building Everyone! Trambay I would live an update if you have time... You must be nearly ready to move in!!!!
