Re: How to buy paint for feature walls 10Mar 18, 2014 10:00 am travelbug The painter should still do the undercoat as he will be painting all the walls with undercoat. He may even do the topcoat but in the same colour as the other walls. As i said in the other thread, putting on needless coats is bad painting practice. Let the painter do the undercoat, but DO NOT allow a pointless topcoat to be put on if you are just going to re colour it. If the project builder is painting the whole house it may be easier to let him do just that rather than say don't paint this wall or this wall or that wall. Have you worked with tradies? Plus they may spray which will be more work to leave a few walls. Think outside the square. Re: How to buy paint for feature walls 12Mar 19, 2014 9:03 am travelbug If the project builder is painting the whole house it may be easier to let him do just that rather than say don't paint this wall or this wall or that wall. Have you worked with tradies? I get your point and I know some tradies are ignorant & make false promises in regards to what you want, but that is no excuse to defer to thir stupidity/laziness. Leaving off the useless top coat is beneficial to the tradie as well, as thats less work he has to do. So it is worth pressing home the point. travelbug Plus they may spray which will be more work to leave a few walls. lol nonsense. they dont have to mask it, it can cop the overspray. travelbug Think outside the square. Has nothing to do with thinking outside of the square. ITs has to do with making sure things are done properly (as i said before). IF you cant instruct painter that you dont want wall A or B topcoated, what chance have you got they will do anything right? I dont deal with tradies who cant follow simple instructions. Re: How to buy paint for feature walls 13Mar 31, 2014 5:18 pm You can go for two tone of the same colour specially the darker one for feature walls can look pretty good. Re: How to buy paint for feature walls 14May 21, 2014 3:28 pm If you felt ignorant i would like to know how that "paint expert" at Master feels! Paint comes in different bases which have certain amounts of Titanium White and each can will allow enough tinters to achieve your desired colour and still allowing it to cover well. In terms of undercoat, at times it is suggested to use a grey undercoat. More so when choosing Red shades. The "expert" at masters would have access to every colour which would prompt him to use a certain base. Should always be mixed on the spot unless they are out of the Base required. Your Job Simply should be to pick a colour. If covering a deep colour or applying a strong colour a specific undercoat may be required. hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking? One could argue that if none of the displays or… 3 2449 Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products.
