The question was asked in June last year. Clear float glass when painted white will look like a light minty green due to the iron content in the glass. Starphire Glass is what they call optically pure but it is Low Iron glass which does still have a blueish tinge to it so when paint white it will still have the blueness due to light refractment and also shadowing makes it more blue. The paint can be pure white but it is painted on the back of the glass and through the 6mm thick it will absorb the glass colour. There is NO true purely colourless glass. The blueness can be dramatically different from house to house depending on natural light and artificial light. Often people think it is a mistake of colour or glass but the glass company should show you sample and explain it properly first. Against dark colour cabinets or benchtops the blueness is not noticed like it is against white kitchens. The only option is to use Perspex which is coloured plastic but can not be used behind cooking areas.
