Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 292Mar 29, 2014 6:14 pm ugly99 Did anyone upgrade the soundscreen insulation if so how much is the upgrade, thinking for the HT room. We're building with Wisdom and we added Soundscreen to a few different rooms. Adding it to the walls of the HT cost $850, adding it to the floor joists between the Ground and 1st Floors was another $3100, then adding it around most of the bedrooms and bathrooms was another $2100 (now that I think about it that's quite a lot!). We also added R2.0 batts to any remaining internal walls for $900. Having a large family and a house with a dark roof/bricks we wanted to do what we could to block noise/heat and wall insulation can't really be done later... Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 293Mar 29, 2014 6:36 pm We got a quote for SoundScreen from Wisdom as well. Cost for R3.1 Soundscreen between First Floor and Ground was $4,455.00. Adding R2.5 Soundscreen to all external walls was $5,120. Matt1 - how big is your house out of interest? Just wondering why our pricing came back higher. The interior is 43 squares (400m2). About 2/3 of that is Grounf Floor so that makes it rougly 130m2 between the floors. We stuck with the standard insulation on the exterior walls and put the soundscreen around bathrooms/kids bedrooms/garage etc. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 295Apr 01, 2014 12:32 pm cpaces, Beautiful photos and Good luck with the move to your new house!!! Do you mind letting me know the name of the brick you have used? It looks like the one we have chosen (Earth from the Symmetry range) few days ago at Austral. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 296Apr 01, 2014 12:35 pm Yes. It is Austral Symmetry Earth. It's an upgrade but it's worth it for us. We're still doing the landscape. The rain hasn't help too but it's getting there. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 297Apr 01, 2014 10:15 pm Very happy for your lovely home, cpaces. Just wondering, what is your plan for landscaping? Are you getting a landscaper to do some work and you will have your weekend DIY project? It will be interesting to see how much cost can we save on DIY landscaping. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 298Apr 02, 2014 1:56 pm Thanks for the kind words. ppp4411. Landacaping wise, we're using Instyle Landscaping for our landscape. Specially the retaining wall for us in corner lot. The retaining wall is one big item in our landscaping. I didn't know people are interested with the landscaping. I'll see what I can share. . Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 299Apr 02, 2014 5:08 pm Hi cpaces, Sure, a lot of people are interested in the landscaping (including me) as I think the majority of us cannot afford the big quotes from builders. I wish you finish soon and only spend your time enjoying the new home cheers Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 300Apr 26, 2014 1:30 pm Hi cpaces - my wife and I previously build with Beechwood Homes 3 years ago and are now building with Wisdom Homes in The Ponds also (Aspiration 29). From the look of your house and the landscaping firm you went through I am sure I drive past your house regularly. Our land should be registered within a month and we are about to complete our tender presentation. My main concern is price of additional electrical, data and entertainment. We want alot of extra power points and I am looking at supplying all my own downlights, pendants etc along with in wall speakers and cable (if necessary) and just have them install. Did you end up spending alot on electrical/data? and did they supply all the fittings? and I assume the answer would be no, but did you ask if you could bring in your own electrician and did they allow you to run your own speaker cable? Sorry about all the questions! Thanks, marknbet Second Build @ The Ponds Wisdom Homes Aspiration 29 Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted.
