Browse Forums Building A New House Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 501Jan 09, 2014 1:08 pm Love that clock... That's awesome. Showers look great Ohhh Hachy... I feel for you! I hate mice... Once you get rid of your "visitor" I can highly recommend Weepa's (weep hole guards) you just get them from Bunnings, they click into your weepholes in the brick work (they often get into the cavities this way) block them and still allow ventilation. Steel wool & expanda foam anywhere else. Also, moth balls/naphthalene flakes work a treat to deter them from coming in... We always have a few sachets in the roof and our shed is full of moth balls. I also chuck peppermint oil soaked cotton balls around too - they hate the smell. I like preventing as much as I can! Horrid little critters Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 502Jan 09, 2014 4:52 pm Shelves and ladders were certainly worth the wait. The clock is beautiful. I've seen some lovely decorative things in garden centres so it is a good tip to look there for inside things too. Regarding the mouse, what about a cat? Are you sure it is a cat and not a possum? Perhaps a professional needs to come in to inspect and close up any gaps through which pesky critters can get in. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 503Jan 11, 2014 11:50 am we have some sachets from the shop in the garage and in the roof but the mouse is smart and hasnt touched them. i saw where it is entering the house, it is entering where there is a gap between the garage and house. lucinda we have 2 cats but they dont go outside or in the garage so wont be catching the mouse. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 504Jan 13, 2014 11:50 am Have you tried steel wool (scouring pads) in the gap? Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 505Feb 28, 2014 11:28 am Hello We are also building in the barossa estate, we are building the Dalesford alfresco we have had many delays but hopefully will start picking up soon. it was good to read about everyones progress. - Nicole Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 506Mar 10, 2014 2:38 pm mice are gone(dead) ended up getting a pest guy out to solve our problem. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 507Jul 07, 2014 4:48 pm We are in the middle of painting the render at the front of the house. It was previously vintage lace by taubmans but we are changing it to paperbark which looks sooo much nicer. Hubby got a promotion at work so we are going back to roxby for 18mths. We have decided to sell this house and it will be going on the market in a few weeks. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 508Jul 07, 2014 4:54 pm I remember you not being happy with the render colour... Paperbark is such a lovely tone, i'm sure it'll look great Oh my gosh.... congrats to you guys on the promotion. So does that mean when you get back from Roxby in 18 months you'll be building the Inverness Alfresco?? Actually looking at the possibility of building in freeling. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 510Jul 07, 2014 5:06 pm Well there you go! Freeling is ever growing and has some nice sized blocks Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 511Jul 07, 2014 5:26 pm Congratulations on the promotion, Hachy. Back to Roxby, hey! 18 months is not so bad. Hope the new render colour helps with the sale. And how exciting to be buying land and building all over again. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 512Aug 01, 2014 1:56 am Well the house is now on the market(since wednesday last week). We had an open inspection on sunday in which 6 groups of people came through. hard to say if any of them were nosey neighbours. we had an offer tonight which we are not accepting and have counter offered. we have another open this sunday. Our next door neighbour spoke to hubby during the week and told him lots of cars have been stopping out the front to have a look. if we dont get a reasonable offer we will go down the renting it out path. Re: chandler alfresco in the barossa 514Aug 13, 2014 3:34 pm Congratulations Hachy!!! That's awesome news...
