Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2341Feb 15, 2014 6:39 pm K+J how disappointing for you. I can only imagine how your feeling, especially when everything was going so smoothly. I hope it doesn't take MJH too long to rectify the issue in a way you are satisfied with. I do however thank you off posting your problem on here because although we are using different builders we have also extended the back of our house by 500mm and I hope we don't face the same issue in our main bathroom, we will definatly be checking it out. On another note congrats Kate for coming in under tender and being able to get the additional furniture you wanted ☺ Not long to go now! ____________________________________________ Building the Altona Media Entertainer with Allworth Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2342Feb 15, 2014 7:31 pm Thank James....what was your builders suggestion in relaying the drain in the main bathroom? I don't understand how it can be done without cutting major holes in the slab. I am not a builder at all and don't pretend to understand (well I will when it comes to speaking with MJH lol so will have to do my research) so I can't understand how they can re-run piping seeing the pipes are all underground. arrrrrrrrgh I just want it to be over already and we are only in our 2 week of actual build construction K & J Building Havana 1 McDonald Jones - Brooks Reach NSW Land Deposit 20/1/13 House Deposit paid 27/7/13 Construction Started 23/1/14 Keys Handed over 1/8/14 Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2343Feb 15, 2014 7:35 pm Hey Kylez, Not a problem that is the main reason I posted about it so others would be aware of it. Make sure you check all the pipes not just the bathroom. It is even down to our kitchen drains being out. Every single drain pipe is out by 230 (approx) The plumber just hasn't taken the time to read the plans. Get it looked at BEFORE the slab is poured. It is a bit hard to work out, we had no idea before the frame went up. You said hubby is a builder, get him in there with his tape measure and measure every one of them out. Better and easier to fix at that stage before the slab is poured. Thats just so devastating for you!!! We also have lengthened and widened our house. I'll have to have a good look at our slab to check if its all done correctly! I will be getting that inspector, thats for sure! It isn't a major move only needs to come out so its no longer sitting under the wall couple cm's (i'll post up a photo later to give a better idea) Looking at your photos I can't believe they mounted the frame over the drain WTF. It even looks like they've chipped away around the drain to cut the pipe shorter? I agree with you I wouldn't want them jack hammering the slab either not with the slabs having the waffle pods underneath these days. I'd be wanting a new slab as well!! It should be ripped up relayed properly and re-poured its their major stuff up but sadly i see them trying to get out the cheapest way possible Hope it isn't too much of a headache getting this resolved and they take the appropriate action asap - James ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Built the Nova with MJH completed Dec 2013 Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2349Feb 16, 2014 8:45 am This might come in handy for some and could be of use to download and read over. http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/6759/S_T_GUIDE_07.pdf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Built the Nova with MJH completed Dec 2013 Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2350Feb 16, 2014 9:54 am Hi all First post on here, good to hear everyone's build stories. Looking forward to the first street party. Welcome Matt & Loz I am also in Polsson St! I'll message you my lot number, see if we're near you K that is bloody devastating!!! I'm in disbelief that the frame was put over that drain...seriously, that's just plain stupidity. I hope they rectify it the way you want it to be but like you and James say I'm sure they'll go for what's cheapest and convenient for them what a pain in the bum, keep us posted. Love those pics James! Definitely makes me more excited to live there - thanks for sharing! Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2355Feb 16, 2014 4:29 pm Hi everyone. Hope your all having a great weekend. I have a quick question for you all. We are in the process of finding a real estate agent to sell our house. Was wondering if anyone on here had any advice of who to go with. Also how there fees word. We have never sold a house before so this is all new to us. Thanx guys. Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2356Feb 16, 2014 6:40 pm Hi Debbiejo I've sent you a pm ☺ ____________________________________________ Building the Altona Media Entertainer with Allworth Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2357Feb 17, 2014 9:10 am That's incredible. Whoever put that frame up, I wouldn't think bad of them - the obviously knew it was a stuff up and needed rectification, but their not about to move a wall or delay the framing stage because of it. They would have known it would be relocated and the wall needed to go up regardless. You have my sympathies K+J, truly nightmare stuff. It's because of things like this that building a homes is so stressful. Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 2358Feb 18, 2014 5:01 pm Had a message from Mick introducing himself as our site supervisor. He said our frames were expected to arrive today and when his guy finishes the frame on a house at the east end, they will start ours Building the Nova with MJH http://thehousethatj-lbuilt.blogspot.com.au "When you are arguing against Him, you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all."
