It's all a waiting queue really and trade dependant. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4407Feb 05, 2014 9:54 am SgtEeyore so is the benham really this popular, of has this become the Rawson thread? lol The rawson thread.. and the benham is popular! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4409Feb 05, 2014 12:11 pm Forg Hey, Rawsonians, I'm intrigued ... for those who were keeping an eye on when their houses were & weren't being worked-on, what pattern did you see in people being there & not being there? I'm asking because ours seems to have a day of frenzied activity each week, where they've got up to a half-dozen guys Doing Things ... then it goes quiet for another week. Our neighbours have been grilling the builders & reckon they're working on 3 houses in the area so they're round-robin working on those 3 builds; however I can't really tell if this is fact or supposition. So - did you have people working for days at a time, and then there'd be a wait? Or was it like ours, where it's a solid day of work followed by a few days of nothing & then a single solid day of work again? A lot trades that take a few days / weeks will (well they want to) have multiple jobs at once - working on one site for a day or two and then another. Having one job and then telling a client I will be out there in a week or so will mean they lose that customer. By juggling multiple jobs they're limiting their down time - paying subies for doing nothing while they wait for their next job. This way, they're working 5/7 days a week and holding their staff (subies will leave if they're unpaid waiting for a job - well the good one will leave) Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4410Feb 05, 2014 12:23 pm SEC We are building the benham Looks like a few people are having issues with the air con - they installed the wrong unit at our house too I just spoke with my site manager and he has the letter from Daikin saying the 160 was discontinued feb 2013, the 140 is the new model that we're all getting that as the upgraded unit. It has .1 difference in kw (160 is 140.1 and 140 is 14) but they perform the same -all the SS's have the letter. Long story short is its the right aircon I guess. Guts of the letter below: OBSOLETE MODEL- FDYQ160KAV1/RZQ150KV4A (PREMIUM INVERTER) Rated Capacity: Cooling 14.1kW, Heating 16.3kW Capacity Range: Cooling 6.2kW-15.0kW, Heating 6.2kW-18.0kW EER/COP: 2.78/3.58 NEW MODEL- FDYQ140LAV1/RZQ140LAV1A (PREMIUM INVERTER) Rated Capacity: Cooling 14.0kW, Heating 16.5kW Capacity Range: Cooling 6.2kW-15.5kW, Heating 6.2kW-18.0kW EER/COP: 3.35/3.95 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4411Feb 05, 2014 1:33 pm Hi guys just re: the aircon I don't know what your contracts all say but if your specifies an FDYQ160/RQ160. This model is currently in circulation with a current FDYQ160/RQ160 model. As per the letter that they are giving out the model that was superseded with the FDYQ140 was the FDYQ160/RZQ150 model. The digits after the 160/150 refer to the year of the model. If you had the FDYQ160/RZQ150 model specified in your contract then you will have received the right model. If you have specified the FDYQ160/RQ160 then I suggest you have a look at what has been installed. Hope that helps. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4413Feb 05, 2014 6:24 pm The Daikin website still lists the FDYQ160 and specifies this as a 16kW unit, not a 14.1kW unit like the Rawson birthday bonus brochure states. It doesn't really state what indoor unit you are going to get, and we haven't gone to contract yet as I'm STILL trying to sort out our #$ airconditioning with Rawson and am getting nowhere fast. Eventually got a quote out of them for a $5K upgrade from the 14kW (they didn't state what unit in the variation) to a FDYQ200. Massive amounts of searching for unit prices on these models don't even come near $5,000, even with 20% builders margin, so I'm at a loss as to where they get their pricing from. Don't even get me started on their pricing for extra ducts. A/C is nigh impossible to get in afterwards, so they've put Mr Brown Bear and I in a situation between a rock and a hard place. It concerns me greatly that they are installing the wrong units in people's places. If the unit is superseded for so long, why is it up on the company web site? Have I missed something completely here? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4414Feb 05, 2014 7:27 pm As for big trade days we've found that since we paid our second last payment (2 months ago) the house has nearly come to a standstill. All that has happened is tiling... And we aren't even having the main wet areas tiled. Slow slow slow. Painters have finally turned up this week. They were booked to start last Wednesday but went AWOL on a private job.... Great work. Another delay to our handover date. Anyway the thing with the aircon is very concerning. The model in the contract is still in stock and available to buy online spa s far as I'm concerned, they can get one and fit it. Also, before they make a contract change like that, Rawson are supposed to contact you in writing and give you 3 days to decide what to do. At the end of the day - they're breaking the contract and need to sort themselves out... My patience has dried up - a 9 month admin period and a build that will more than likely take 40 or more weeks. I'm over it and I'll not be accepting anything less than what's in my contract.
