Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 712Jan 09, 2014 1:47 pm My I laws just built a new home and did a lot of research etc due to a previous bad build experience. Their new home had a few teething issues but nothing major, but it is hard to think of everything no mater how hard you try! due to having tank water they had discolouration of tiles and grout in bathroom, I was aware of this problem from past experience but unfortunately hadn't thought of it to mention to Inlaws.... A place I have previously lived in with tank water overcome this problem by having teracotta coloured tiles and grout in bathroom for floor and lower wall. If the rainwater harvesting system is correctly set up, the water will be very clean. There is no excuse if it isn't. Unfortunately, most water tank installs I see including most of those on this forum are what I term sub standard. Plumbers and installers generally either don't have a clue about best practice or do only the minimum required for compliance. Compliance does not guarantee best practice. A compliance certificate also does not guarantee that the install is compliant or that a manufacturer's warranty terms and conditions have been complied with. People need to do their homework to ensure that they have a good quality system and also not get ripped off by many thousands of dollars. Advising people to option brown coloured tiles and grout is not the answer. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Hi all, Just thought I would post an update on the people who say the are trying to create a website for home owners to use to control their build. I had my hubby contact them (bit too techo for me) and basically ... they are building their own home as well (first build) and have been surprised at how much information there is to keep track of ... and the fact that there is nothing really around for home owners. They are building a site which will allow storage of documents, budget and actual spend details and a basic task list. Sounds more or less what my hubby is doing but he has stuff in a few different places ... Anyway, they are finishing a prototype and are aiming to release something for use as quickly as possible. We have asked them to keep us updated as we would like to trial it as soon as it is ready. Once we get a chance to have a look ... I'll let you know. Sounds promising though ... Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 716Jan 12, 2014 10:48 am Hi All, This is my first post!! Wow what a site, a friend that had built just recently put me onto it and !! We haven't started building, don't even have a contract as yet hahaha, we are a little nervous and excited. Has anyone built with Burbank? We are planning on using them as their floor plans are nearly exactly what we want except for a couple minor changes. PS Did I say how amazing this forum is and how amazing the summary on page 32 is?
