Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 8848Dec 23, 2013 1:40 pm inglewood Scott2233 interested to know there is option of choosing textured shaker profile door without paying extra Thanks for the infor, we will check this out at tender/color Apparently the profile is included in the standard price - it's the finish that you pay extra for. So we were told anyway. I was pretty excited that I could have my shaker style kitchen and not pay anything for it. We didn't get the price till after our tender - crazy when we had been asking since November last year and didn't have tender till March this year. We brought that up at tender and our tender presenter got back to us via email with the following: "The Colonial Profile is included in the price as this is a standard item" - and then we changed it to shaker profile at our colours appointment - but were told all profiles are included in the price. It certainly contradict to what we were told - the colonial / shaker profile is only available to those pricy finish , e.g. Color tech or vynal finish Good on u , Inglewood , if u got that profile for free And hopefully we are as lucky as u Re: Porter Davis homes 8849Dec 24, 2013 10:39 am Lurgen inglewood Lurgen
hi everyone was just wondering what people's garages look like? Is is mostly plastered, however around the external access door there is exposed brick. Does anyone else have this? Mine has no exposed brick, it is all plastered. HD Did you request it that way Lurgen? Nope, that was just the way it was done. HD
I'm sorry but it turns out I was mistaken. There is brickwork exposed in either side of my access door. I'm at work so I can't attach an image but the brickwork is pretty narrow and neatly symmetric so it doesn't really catch my eye. There is also brick showing around the front roller door. Sorry for the confusion. HD Re: Porter Davis homes 8850Dec 24, 2013 12:37 pm Lurgen suzybuzy hi everyone was just wondering what people's garages look like? So far I've come up with: 1. Electrical Load Balancing and running extra circuits to the home theatre (our electrical consultant said we should ask this). 2. Tile alignments (our BC said we should ask this). 3. We put up our own temp fencing, the builders need to contact us in advance prior to them being removed (our BC said we should ask this). 4. Give building inspector details to site supervisor (our BC said we should ask this). Were there any other questions or issues you've covered with your site supervisor prior to site start? Re: Porter Davis homes 8857Dec 29, 2013 12:11 am Just catching up on my blog reading Skye and Chrystee hope the moving in went well and you are both happy in your new homes! Country lifestyle -wow! Most surprised to see that you have a roof and tiles as well as the frame up already. You just be really pleased with how fast it is happening. The big alfresco at the back looks just the place for chardy hour I am sure. Clairemumto5 - no updates for a while. I hope that things are still on track for you, our builds were at about the same place. Our painting is due to,start after Christmas break. Is your place painted yet? Ajd -long time since I have heard from you too. Cabinets look great on the blog. Have you got the garage and retaining wall issues sorted yet? Jackula - sounds like you have had your fair share of drama finding asbestos and older footing when the house was knocked down. Fingers crossed that the second soil test comes back with no surprises. Inglewood - love the way all your exterior colours are coming together. I think it is such a relief to see them all together after picking from such small samples. I am stressing over our render on the balcony, it gets done almost at the last apparently and I am having second thoughts now. A bit late I know. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful 2014 in our new homes! Re: Porter Davis homes 8858Dec 29, 2013 8:37 am Hi Backpocket, I do need to update the blog just haven't been on computer for a while, painting is mostly finished from what I can see through the windows apart from I'm guessing the under stair door which we were still trying to sort out dimensions of before SS went on break, the painter worked all through chrissy (unsure about xmas day but I hope he took it off) it looks reaaly good from what I can see from outside, scaffold came down from garage and alfresco roof, not sure what is on the cards next. But SS. Said he had some fitoffs booked for while he was awaybut wasn't sure if he could get tiler onsite till later in jan. And for Jackula we didn't hear from SS till after slab is poured as a separate person manages the base stage from what I understand Re: Porter Davis homes 8859Dec 29, 2013 8:43 am Back Pocket Just catching up on my blog reading Skye and Chrystee hope the moving in went well and you are both happy in your new homes! I also worry about the render too - it did look good at hopetoun though.... We are having Dune render and the garage will be Dune too - fingers crossed! Re: Porter Davis homes 8860Dec 29, 2013 7:12 pm Hi Has anyone come across issue whilst building during Xmas period, the tap where the hot water connection is faulty and therefore water keep running continually as soon as main water switch is on. My meter jumps to 80 kilolitre in one week and I am not able to contact the builder as the close for 2 weeks during this Festive Season. I have turned off the main water switch. But different contractors (plasterer, etc...) keep working whilst the builder is off and they need access to water and have therefore turn on the main water switch. I stuck a sign near the main tap asking them to turn off the main switch and have to keep visiting the site to explain it to them. My building contract stated that the owner is liable for all water usage during construction period. I wrote several emails to my builder along with the photos of the water on the ground and the meter reading each day for the past 7 days. Can anyone provide some advice on this? This is very unfair as the water loss is due to faulty plumbing work caused by the builder's plumber. I could imagine at the end of 3 mths the water usage will be thousands due to water loss. Thanks heaps. Wow that is terrible about the insurance! I guess ideally proof of insurance should be provided prior to first deposit but I'd imagine they would refuse to be out of… 17 14248 There isn't any need to. As I wrote previously, there isn't a set term, there is just commencement based on earlier of contract signing or building permit issue and… 24 13408 Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 6510 |
