Browse Forums Building A New House Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 721Dec 17, 2013 11:35 pm Is anyone able to help! I have purchased a block in Parkland Heights (Camley Release-Settles Tomorrow) and have been informed today by my builders that they may need to build a 25c Nib wall at the very end of our third garage for the meter boxes, gas meter etc. Suppose to be 25c height. Has anyone else had to do this? I have disputed this as our plans originally showed the meters to be on the opposite end of the house however, due to regulations it may not make a difference. My pre-start girl has taken it up with the Manager to have it looked into and hopefully over ruled as she feels the nib wall would be a nuisance as we would always risk hitting it with vehicles etc being so close to our garage. My question is has anyone had to do the same? Whats it look like when finished? Was it a nuisance to have etc.... Hope someone can help! Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 722Dec 17, 2013 11:37 pm I've seen it done but can't remember where. I'd fight hard to have it ok other side. I wouldn't be happy with extra wall as you said risk hitting it and so on Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 723Dec 18, 2013 1:10 am Thanks Leanne, I definitely don't want it there but just wish this was something that was brought up BEFORE! If you see it while your driving around let me know where hahahaha First Build: Goldfields Homes 2012 (Kalgoorlie) Current Build: 2013,"The Cosmopolitan" Summit Homes A Land: Parkland Heights, Baldivis. Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 724Dec 18, 2013 10:06 am Our old rental had a wall like that, but had rear entry garage, it didn't bother me at all but also didn't effect how the house looked since it was at the back. On a different note our house is on the market as of yesterday, so if anyone wants to buy in parkland heights bows your chance Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 725Dec 18, 2013 11:34 am Thanks Ronnii, I wouldn't be so worried if this was going to be out back but unfortunately they want it out front. See how I go with Summitt, hopefully things will sway our way! Hope you get what you want for your place! Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 726Dec 18, 2013 12:03 pm Our meter boxes are on the opposite side of the lot to where the services are so don't understand why they can't do the same for yours ? The opposite side has a single gate side entry to the rear which is where the original placement for the meter boxes was. My site works were over quoted which is GREAT! So we are in credit however, they want to charge us $1000 for the meter boxes to be moved to a makeshift wall right in front of the last pillar of the garage at the boundary line. I dont understand why it can't just be where it originally was either, was hoping by putting the feelers out in here someone could explain it more to me as I just don't get it! Hahaha.... Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 728Dec 18, 2013 12:37 pm Just refuse to pay that and they would have to put them where they originally were.......they should be able to explain why if that's a problem. Feel free to post their response Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64997&start=40 Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 729Jan 05, 2014 6:11 pm Hi guys, is there anyone who's secured a block of land at Seabreeze Estate Waikiki? Who are you building with? Any info. as to the cost of raising the garage height from 25c to 28c? My builder quoted approx. $1,300+. Does this sound right or is something that can be negotiated at a lower rate or freebie? Thanks. Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 730Jan 14, 2014 7:01 pm Peeps, help! I received our landscaping package papers. Their are saying that it is owner's responsibility to install 90mm PVC pipe under the driveway. I don't think I will be capable to do that. Any ideas who should I contact to get it done properly? Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 731Jan 14, 2014 7:43 pm Your builder should have done it before paving. Otherwise no idea sorry. Another option is no plants on side of driveway but I don't know what your frontage is like Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 732Jan 15, 2014 1:40 pm They haven't laid the paving so there is still time I guess. Thanks Leanne! Edit: I spoke with the builder. The pipe is included in the contract so they will take care of it. Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 733Mar 12, 2014 10:55 am Does anyone have any tips and tricks in dealing with Telstra and their 'Velocity' product? Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 734Jul 14, 2014 7:04 pm Hi, does anyone know the catchment areas for local primary schools? We will be (when finally finished) living in "the Quarters". Land is due to be titled end Aug (fingers crossed there's no delays), all new to this so any tips/advice would be appreciated Thanks Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 735Jul 14, 2014 9:56 pm I think you'll prob be smirk rd primary. I'm not sure if catchments areas have been changed, enrolment is done through settlers if you're enrolimg for next year. They have a map in their office if you call with address they can tell you which catchment area Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 737Nov 25, 2014 7:43 pm Well, after a year or so we're back to continue our build (story that can't be discussed on a forum). We've purchased some land in Baldivis (east), Chevas Estate and have just completed our Pre-start, electrical and smart wiring consult. We're doing all of the earth works and organising the retaining wall as the building company and some associated contractors were out of control with their costings (approx. $100k). Once our retaining wall has been completed and backed filled, I'll have to commence with compacting the area suitable for handover (gathering information on those details now). Looking forward to the next stage and discussing with those that maybe interested. Oh, BTW LeanneR, our builder is no longer Platinum, it's now Blueprint (I just saw this on page one). Re: WA - Baldivis/Waikiki Group Chat 739Feb 21, 2015 9:37 pm After conducting quite a bit of our earth works ourselves, we'll have the final touches completed by a contractor along with 250m3 of cleanfill. So hopefully by Thursday next week, we can finally say that it is now up to the builder. Happy Days.
