Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 27Nov 22, 2013 4:10 pm Wow you guys respond quickly Thats great if they do the trees as well! There is one very large one which we may have to get removed independently but might wait until we have heard from the demolition people, I have put in for 2 quotes with 2 different companies homeforce and scca any others that you could recommend? Thanks ALLY Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 28Nov 22, 2013 7:34 pm Our demolition of a 3 bedroom home in melbourne was around $13,000 including sewer capping. Around $3k of this was asbestos removal. I lopped two large trees through a local company at around $330 each. They were around 8 - 10 metres tall. Demolition companies range enormously on their work quality. You do want to speak with a few clients beforehand. Also, confirm with any company that you can salvage items of value from your home. Some companies don't let you do this. Good luck. Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 29Nov 23, 2013 8:26 am We used a mob called City Civil, there was no breakdown in the $14100 quote so not sure what the individual costs were. It was a vinyl clad 50's ex-fibro house, so still had some fibro walls & garage; plus we had 6 trees of maybe 10m-15m height (none of the trunks more than about 30cm in diameter apart from the one which was split so had a bit of a whacky shape). It admittedly took the full 14 working-days they had allowed (5 days of part-time manual demolition, a wait, and 2 days with the Big Yellow Machine), but I guess scheduling/lateness problems are why they over-quote the required time. The independant inspector guy we're getting to check the building process had his first look at the empty block yesterday, and commented that they'd done a good job of cleaning the site. Apparently there can be issues with electricity meters with KDR's, with the demolition company being slow to return the meter or even forgetting. Because you can't have two meters registered for a residence, you have to wait until the original one is officially handed-back before you can get another one; so it can be a PITA getting electricity. We've not had that problem either (just got the new meter ID last week). Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 30Nov 23, 2013 9:33 am I have requested a quote from city civil and a couple of others, do they help with the council approval process? we are with liverpool council and the area we are in has lots of KDR so hopefully they are used to it and won't take too long with approval. I guess all I can do now is wait and see what they all come back with. Thanks for the response Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 31Aug 25, 2014 10:38 pm Hi all, I've received 3 quotes; Democorp, Site Demolition (Aussie flags all over their ads) and Demolition and Asbestos Solutions Democorp seems to be the cheapest and most inclusive. Any other demo ppl I should check out? Thanks! Re: Demolition Cost - NSW 33Aug 26, 2014 9:24 am I got 3 quotes and went with the cheapest one, State Demolition. They cap your sewer line and disconnect your electricity. The elec meter needs to be removed by your provider. If you have gas make sure you allow another 4 weeks for them to disconnect your gas and remove the gas meter. AGL charges $1100 for this. If you decide to go with SD, they need the payment the second after the job is finished if not before.
