Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 81Oct 01, 2013 10:27 am Charlie23 i think thats a good idea! i had my plans drawn up and i knew exactly what plants i wanted and where and he still came back with a completely different drawing so just a heads up! having you OH there should do wonders! Leanne i hope it was just the wind hahaha i would give me a little more faith in humanity ! Belle22 thanks for everything!! they said a couple of weeks after PCI we should be in but they also told us that our PCI should have been mid september so i dont really take to heart anything they say anymore. from what i can see, house is pretty much done, just need to check the plumbing and wiring and im happy with the rest however there might be a tonne of minor things our inspector finds so i really dont know how long it might be to handover. my friend still hasn't got her keys... 9 WEEKS after her PCI. luckily she isnt with Ideal homes like i am but honestly, im not going to hold my breath for it. ill be happy if we have handover before november. title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 82Oct 03, 2013 10:56 am What the...9 WEEKS and still no keys....is she building with Doddgy Brothers Direct!!! Most builders usually have 10 working days after PCI to fix anything before handing over the keys. It should be written in your contract anyway. I would think you would have keys by the middle/ end of this months for sure!! Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 83Oct 08, 2013 5:28 pm yeah she is building with g3mmil. not sure on specifics but she was saying it was 9 weeks and still noting!! but our site supervisor said within 10 days after PCI we should have our keys, we havent got our full report from our independent inspector yet but from what i picked out the biggest thing was the front door was stained jarrah and not antique cherry! i thought the colour was off the whole time so when we went inside i went straight for the left over supplies to see what stain they had used! there is still mold on the ensuite roof and the outdoor ceilings were a little crap but there wasnt anything MAJOR other then that that we saw, thats being said, we went in to test the power points and lights and smoke detectors and nothing worked!!! so my BF (keep in mind is a sparky) took the meter box apart to see that they hadnt connected the power to the mains yet (apparently they disconnect it for safety reasons when installing our shower screens) so that was not cool! but its exciting to think we could be only 2 weeks away from having keys!! eeeek!! title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 84Oct 21, 2013 12:43 pm HANDOVER TOMORROW!!!!!!! our inspector found nothing major but some unfinished things, like the flumes not being connected yet, and rubbish in the roof space, front door stain being poor quality, on of the roof tiles were badly damaged and this and that. nothing huge. i know handover will go ahead with some problems still with the house, mainly they didnt replace the front door despite the fact it was stained the wrong colour! so we have a final house inspection tomorrow at 8am and handover at 10am. and then i guess the real work begins! does anyone have any advice about painting the house ourselves?! the people at masters said we should wait to make sure the walls are dry to put the sealer/binder on but the white plaster float has been on for like 5 months ! title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 85Oct 21, 2013 1:33 pm Yay!!!!! I prefer dulux brand stuff (im sure others are fine but I know dulux colours and have never had any issues with dulux). Do a whole wall first, so cut it in (cornices, corners, bottom) and then roll. Move onto next wall. This makes sure your paint blends best. Also prevents mistake of doing all cutting in then opening next tin paint and its been mixed slightly different and then you can tell. Spend the time to sand rough patches (if any) and to fill any dents or scratches as they will be more viable once colour paint is on Yay for keys!!! Cannot wait to be moving in Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 87Oct 24, 2013 9:05 pm Congrats on handover Aston. How did it go? I would def try and seal the house before you put your flooring in ect. Because you have to use an oil base paint, it stinks and you don't want to be doing it after you move in. We used Solver oil based sealer...their all pretty much the same.....just whack it on. I've been told all different things...some people say wait for at least 6 months before doing your proper paint...others say its not necessary...I don't know, each to their own I guess. We've decided to wait, as we still have building going on around us, we worry about cracks appearing. But cracks can still appear years later....our other house was like that.... Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 88Nov 12, 2013 7:52 pm Aston, Can you recommend your inspector to me? and at what stage did you bring him/her in? Do you have to request approval from Ideal Homes first to bring in an inspector? We've just reached construction lock-up on our place with no problems so far (that we know of). I'm thinking handover will be around end of Jan/beginning of Feb with any luck. Cheers, TJ Ask for references and speak to them.
