So its still yet to dry. The dry areas are coming up a treat. But there's nothing to compare standard mortar or off-white. With the bricks, wow we love them its a really nice colour not too dark not too light. The colour it was replacing (chocolate) was nice but it had a red through the brick this is truffle all the way through. I will say the samples at spectra doesn't do justice until you see it in real life on a house that is. Awesome, thanks Xjohnno. Great to know that they look good. I was stressing out little bit , because we didn't see them in real life before choosing and since then keep searching over internet. Great to know that your build is all going smooth. Good luck with it all, will follow your blog , would be great to follow your build as you seem to be few weeks ahead of us, so we get to know what's coming next for us Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4309Nov 02, 2013 9:48 am wow 9K! Maybe I should rethink my choice of tile! On our initial sales quote they have quoted $1300 for the laying of the larger tiles. I also couldn't get much info at Beaumont about extra costs. Guess I will need to select some other options just in case. I don't know how many metres ours is, we are building the Albany 40 so it will be the entry, hall, kitchen, dining, laundry and powder room. In that case may be you are looking atleast at 150sqm , as we are building vetra 43 and only difference is, we have choosen to tile study and lounge area as well instead of carpet. So for us basically all downstairs in the house except for the theatre room to tile. Can I ask what tile did you choose initially? Because laying of larger "ceramic' tiles is much cheaper than laying of larger porcelain tiles Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4311Nov 03, 2013 9:39 pm I went to national tile. Their cheapest 600x600 tile is $24 per Sqm. Labour cost is mre than 50. Btw, what promotion did you guys get ? It seems metricon and poter Davis got better promotion. Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 4312Nov 04, 2013 9:53 am Hi All We have just put down the deposit for the Marlow 25 with Carlisle yesterday! We will be building in Berwick, VIC. Our land does not title until May/ June 2014, so we hopefully have quite a bit of time to make informed decisions. Electron EVS unit in garage with 4 internal points, 12m hose, muffler, wand & cleaning set - $1721 * Data Network 8 Pack - $2031 * Surround sound pre-wiring to theatre - $488 * Classic Starter 4 zone security system (3 motion sensors), siren, strobe - $865 * Capped cold water point to fridge space - $256 * Capped gas point to alfresco - $526 * Garden tap fixed to external brickwork near alfresco - $253 * Brivis Profiler P64 evap cooling with 9 points, auto refresh, winter seal - $6790 * Cedar lining board ceiling to alfresco - $3455 ( won't be going with this ) * 100mm edge to kitchen bench - $2800 ( won't be going with this ) * Tyfoon 48in stainless steel ceiling fan to alfresco - $419 I think that's all the written specifics we can give at this point. We were told "roughly" $5k for double glazed windows (likely to do that instead of eaves), refrigerated cooling around $15k, cat 3 brick upgrade - $900, cat 4 brick upgrade - $1700 ( around 5k bricks for our plan ). Ahh... Finally someone who used them on this forum and would love to know if yours is offwhite mortar, because in the pics it looks a bit creamy? How did you find the bricks in real life in general? Hi Vetra, Just went by my house today and they bricks were cleaned... Took this photo to show the brick work. Looks Mint! We have had a quick look and already we see a few minor errors. I was just wondering if it is necessary to have a solicitor look through it? Also, (would just like to hear your opinion on this) a bit of background: We first spoke with CH and got the sales quote way back in March. We had left it with the salesman that we paid our 1k and with that they were going to do a soil test so we could get an idea on site costs as it is a sloping block. He said that if we didnt want to go ahead with the build after that than we could take our soil report and we would lose our 1k. He said he would get back to us. Fast forward a month or more and hubby and I still hadnt heard anything so we went back to the home where we first met the salesman. Get there and we are told that he no longer works for the company. We told the lady how we had left things and she "confirmed" with head office that nothing had been done. So since we still hadn't sold our house, we left it as it was. Fast forward to August when we finally sold our house, we were appointed a new sales man and we contd with our sale. Tender wasnt long after and we just received our contract. Upon looking thru the contract, I notice that the soil survey was infact dated MARCH!! I am upset that we weren't told the reports of this test way back than as it could've very much influenced our budget. (site costs came up to around 40k mark) we expected around 30K. Any thoughts on what (if anything) I should do about it? We were in a similar boat with you as well and we were trying to push CH for our site costs and was always pushed back and was told they didn't have it. Although our site cost wasn't as much as yours. Being first home buyers was still a bit of money. Having spoken to other CH clients they weren't able to get this figure until the contract / tender was available. Hope that helped. The truffle bricks have a far superior soft finish / clean color out of them. Excellent choice on your behalf .
