Is the world turning square?!!

Silly subject heading!!!!! but i am a bit confused.
Saw a display home-- downlights are square (and in pairs)
wash basins are square... even the semirecessed ones with a fat border... almost 6 cm thick ughhh that stick out of a flat benchtop. To me they are ugly.
Oval washbasins semirecessed with benchtop in smooth curves look so elegant.
You have to pay extra $$ to get a square bordered kitchen sink (standard is rounded border)

I am just curious why this trend? I am sure square sinks will date just as the pink bathrooms!!
Any opinions? I wonder what Michelle has to say!

Well personally I love the square angular look, I adore the square basins and sinks (especially those big fat chunky edged ones

) and clean lines and angles and these kinds of things suit my taste

So I guess it really is how they say "each to their own"

Square is the new round and I'm all for it too. I personally think that it gives a space a cleaner edge than the old round ones.

I lke the square shapes, makes for a more modern clean lines type of effect. As with anything though, it is the actual implementation that is most important.

I don't necessarily think square is back in fashion. I think there are a wide range of both square and oval basins that are available - and are all still contemporary. It really does boil down to personal preference and the overall look you are trying to create in the space.

Have a look on -
www.parisi.com.au - in the bathware section. There are a wide variety of oval or square basins and in many different models - including bench mounted, under counter, semi-recessed etc...

We have a square basin in our 2nd bathroom and I love it. We were supposed to have them in our ensuite but Hubby decided on bench top bowls which I really hate.

Everything is going square, even dinner sets these days are square too.

Oh, you would so hate my house! :lol:

I am a very big fan of squares. Not just squares, actually, but geometric shapes and clean, sharp lines. I always tell my sister that I don't like 'frilly' stuff. She knows what I mean when I say 'frilly' so we both just laugh at my describing words.

Oh, and you remember when it was once thought that the world was flat?! But it turned out to be round. Maybe it really is square?!

Square, I love it. We are having square basins definitely square plates. I would have had a house with no eaves parpet walling hiding all the roof line if it wasnt for the harsh qld sun so i have just a few parpet walls for fun. When the triangle craze comes in I'll just build a pyramid house apparantly the design can stand the test of time!

square is okay since I prefer anything geometric but I'd like a house that's child-safe so not so much on square tables and anything that would be headbump-y.

i have to agreed with you vpande I donot like square either, I when for the oval in my new home , as I have seen this before a look that comes and goes.like the square bench top that are in they were in in the 80,s

See I love square and totally don't understand those round porthole windows!! I thought they went out in the 80's and I keep seeing new houses being built with them. I just don't get it.

I guess if everyone loved the same things the world would be a very bland and boring place.
