I am not looking forward to prestart as we have gone for a lot of upgrades and don't know the cost of them until prestart Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 8Oct 22, 2013 9:41 am Pinkiepie have you got your block? We are greatful to have found the house plans first because we would have brought 500m2 block and our plans needs to be more than 610 ! Once we found that out we found a block within the hour! Our block is 690 and that doesn't come up often we felt very lucky that day Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 9Oct 22, 2013 9:42 am Love your plan!! And good work on setting out your ensuite bench with the sinks looks like it's the perfect length! Have a good think about the set up of cupboards/drawers to make everything look symmetrical. I really regret not doing that! Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 10Oct 22, 2013 8:10 pm Thanks kat, All I think about is this home build. I like to find more to fix or I like pull things apart and change them until I am 100% happy. I now know how I want my ENS and will put on my prestart notes to check out how all the cardboards in the house will line up. That's a good tip kat! Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 11Oct 28, 2013 4:43 am Thank you everyone for the help Cupcake, unfortunately, we went the other way round. Snatched up a land first without thinking, then started house plan hunting. We are first home owners! So, very oblivious to everything. Starting to pick up and learn, and vow to make a more informed decision the next time round. Our block has a very narrow frontage (13m), but widens to the back. It is 590sqm in total. So, this poses problems and limits our choices. Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 12Oct 31, 2013 9:53 am we got a prestart date 6 December now it's time to go through our list and mark the items into wants and needs we also need to study the budget to make sure we have a realistic budget and not some made up budget. We are going to start by working on our budget backwards from the grass and fences right up to adding storage space in the games room. Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 13Oct 31, 2013 11:33 am yay for prestart date.. very exciting.. sounds like you have a well thought out plan to budget Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 14Oct 31, 2013 3:00 pm Thanks nicci We so don't want to end up short at a later date and have a unfinished house Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 15Nov 01, 2013 3:55 pm the other day we got a bill from the council for the rates, great a other big bill to pay! today we got a letter from the settlement agency, I was so hoping for a small check and not a other bill. so i took a look at the letter and this is what it said "We are posting a cheque to city of rockingham today to pay the rates in full and enclose a cheque for the sum of $$$ being refund due to you" yes a small cheque, a win for us! Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 17Nov 04, 2013 5:08 pm Congrats on having a prestart date I loved making my selections although I agree that not knowing prices beforehand is a bit frustrating. To help ourselves out prior to prestart we made two selections our chosen upgrade but if we couldn't afford it we had already had back up chosen from the builders standard range as well. My Baldivis Build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67953 Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 18Nov 05, 2013 1:26 am very practical layout and I like the modifications you made to your plan! selections look great so far, good luck for prestart Re: Sharon's build with home group WA 20Nov 17, 2013 5:18 pm I feel silly as I like to drive by the block on Fridays after school.
The kids hate it because there's no house there! There was about 15 blocks that were release at the same time as ours and out if those 15about 8 have started! We know that ours more than likely won't start until February! Prestart is still 4 weeks away! I am wanting to go back to the tile shop (third time) to look at plan B for the main part of the house and bathroom tiles! I am now thinking of going back to our first choice. I can't pick my roof colour or the garage door colour until I get the mortar colour. I have picked the colour for the front door RED! For we are wanting plain colours for the house but so you can see the front door it will be red! We are looking forward to having prestart finish so there will be no more changing colours or other things to the house! I don't like waiting UPDATE: We are now having JARRAH stained front doors. I's a bit like the red doors only safer!!![/ Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2222 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 4419 |
