Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Fitting ducted A/C to new build home in WA 4Oct 16, 2013 3:19 pm I am in the same boat, however I have decided on Actron because of the features and ramp down ability. I shopped a little but it also comes down to quality of install. I think I will be going with Jeff mouritz gas and air. They are a platinum installer and have good feedback. I sent my plans in and asked for recommendations. I dealt with a very nice and helpful chap. Pm me if you want details. At the end it comes down to personal preference as to which you choose but all decent reputable outfits should be able to look at your plans and quote. Cheers and good luck Mark Re: Fitting ducted A/C to new build home in WA 6Oct 16, 2013 3:24 pm Hi PDU We currently have ducted reverse cycle Hitatchi through our existing house - I will not go with them again. DH is looking after the air conditioning for our renovation and extension, we emailed about 10 places with our plans and requests and I think we heard back from 8. Prices vary from approx. $20k to $9k. (This is just for the extension although DH wants his garage to be air - conditioned as well and different firms are tackling it differently) It was interesting because we thought it would be cheaper to have the pipes and ducting installed during the build (before the ceiling goes on (and bare in mind we are a single story) however some places wanted to charge us an extra $300 ....I guess because this way you would have to come out twice. Most places also requested a 60% upfront deposit to do it this way. For this reason - we've decided to complete the build on the extension and then get it put in. (Handing over more than $7k to someone and not having anything else happen for a couple of months makes me uneasy) Good Luck viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Fitting ducted A/C to new build home in WA 7Oct 20, 2013 7:02 pm i too emailed plans all the big air cond guys, ford and doonan, needham air, jeff moritz and waited for their recommendations and install suggestions. i went with a smaller family company which was recommended by a friend and gave the best install (least slab pens and form work) using daiken ducted in a two story build, and i think we paid a 10% deposit. Re: Fitting ducted A/C to new build home in WA 9Oct 22, 2013 8:23 am Hi, we used Fujitsu in Ellenbrook approx 2 years ago in our current home. We found them very competitive and very quick in and out in one day. Our current home is a 3x2 so only a relatively small home but have had no problems or issues. Hi there, While this would be ideal (it makes the install *much* easier), you'll usually find that most builders won't let you do this - trades who aren't theirs become a liability on site, and their insurance doesn't cover goods that they haven't supplied.
