Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Which bricks is this? 5Oct 13, 2013 7:33 pm No worries mirz. We spent many months researching bricks for our build, numerous drive bys to homes etc... Nothing like seeing a completed home when short listing bricks! I did see some white speckle in your pics which I didn't notice on the Daniel Rob bricks, other than that, it looks pretty close. Good Luck!! Re: Which bricks is this? 6Oct 13, 2013 9:51 pm Those white one could be due to older lots. These photos are from an ex display home which would be around 8 years old in highlands. I have read that some people complaining about lack of original character in recent batches of these bricks. Regular builders are using standard bricks for around $900-$1000 per 1000 bricks. These beauties looks like are $600 per 1000 dearer than that. For our house, estimating around 15,000 bricks will make it around $9,000 upgrade without builder markup. Anyone sourced these bricks recently and has any feedback or pricing? would be highly appreciated. Re: Which bricks is this? 7Nov 14, 2013 3:19 pm I've been scratching my head over brick colours of late. My builder has given me his list of standard bricks by Boral and I had also been to the nearest Boral display centre earlier on when it came to submitting a Colour Scheme to Town Planning. Initially, I liked some of the reddish bricks such as Orient by Boral, but having looked at a few houses with this and other similar Bricks, I have not been all that impressed by the overall colour schemes. The darker bricks, in my view make houses look more modern. One of the darker bricks in the builder's standard range is Barwon by Boral. I need to look at a few houses that have this. Anyone have any thoughts on the Boral, Barwon brick and what it would go with? I have asked the builder to give me a pricing on a couple of the darker Boral bricks that are not in the standard range. (waiting on this) The existing side fences on the property are Colorbond. The main fence panels look like they might be a Colorbond "Domain" colour (or similar to Paperbark) with what looks like Colourbond "Harvest" frames. Re: Which bricks is this? 8Nov 14, 2013 3:49 pm what i found so far is that its very important to see actual built houses in shortlisted bricks. it is next to impossible (for me) to envisage how a whole house would look with a particular brick. bricks upgrades cost different with different builders. there is no consistency at all. some builders have divided same priced bricks in different categories, and happy charging premium prices as upgrades. Re: Which bricks is this? 9Nov 14, 2013 5:12 pm Hi mirz, They most definitely look like Daniel Robertson's Hawthorn Tan, or a blend of Hawthorn Tan and Hawthorn Black. I have them on my own home (and love them). They look like the same batch as my home, too, which is no longer available. My home is coming up to 5 years old. I believe the newer batch is quite different, and doesn't have the purple look in them, but you'd have to take a trip to their showroom and see houses built more recently to see the newer batch. It may have changed again, too. I got some of the last remaining of my batch 4 years ago for my front fence. Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6583 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7727 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7556 |
