I'm not upset that right there is good information. Joh + Lach if you wanted to colour match something how would you go about doing so on photoshop or is it impossible? Decorate your home. I am desperate to build a nice weatherboard in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have been looking into Highview Homes. It looks absolutely gorgeous, please keep the pics and updates coming! Fingers crossed I can afford one Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 328Oct 06, 2013 3:31 pm Oh and for the record I like the darker blue/black door. There is a house around the corner that is a white double storey weatherboard, it has a high gloss enamel black door and it looks amazing! Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 329Oct 06, 2013 4:06 pm Thanks CeNedra, & thanks for commenting. Most seem to like the darker door & I can see why, it is more of a statement for sure. They're based in Eastern suburbs so that won't be a problem. If you do decide to go with them or consider them feel free to PM me anything you might like to know. No they are not the cheapest build out there, but definitely unique. Too much to decide (Master bedroom up or down has me in a spin at the moment). We have a sloping block from front to back like you (not as steep, and not with city views) and we want a builder who is experience on these types of builds. Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 331Oct 06, 2013 4:35 pm Yup. We found that a sloping block ruled out a lot of the volume builders. But like you I wanted confidence that we chose a builder who knew how to build on a slope & actually work with the slope rather than doing a cut & fill. We put the master at the back because of the views & also due to living with front bedrooms for 7 years I was fed up with noise from cars/people etc when trying to sleep. Ummm personal preference. We did it for views but when we're 80 we might regret it being upstairs. Haha! We've just bought a weatherboard cottage to fix up - and I am seriously thinking of stealing your exterior colour scheme. Am also hunting for somewhere in Sydney that does leadlights that I won't have to remortgage the house to cover. For what it's worth, I actually love the door in white. If it were me I would either leave it as is, or use a colour that contrasts with the blue-grey palette of the rest of the house, like a beautiful deep red. Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 334Oct 07, 2013 8:57 am Thanks WesternFront. Wishing you all the best with your renovation. Happy to let you know the exterior colours, it should all be in the thread anyway. Our leadlighting was included fortunately and it was $100 to change from the standard colours to the custom blue which I was happy to pay. Yeah, with the door I think we're going the baby blue. Sorry to everyone who suggested different. There's one in our neighbourhood with dark grey weatherboard and a red door, it looks good, but my tastes are a bit more conservative Thank you for the suggestion though. Great builders! I would lean toward a black/deep charcoal leaving the sidelights white. It will pick up on the black of the lead while IMO the blue door will probably detract from the lovely blue glass. Or, leave it white so the blue glass POPS. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ IMO black is stunning as a front door when the door is level with the front facade, as in SCGirl's pic: not as is the case here- where it's set back. That's because black/charcoa/navy tends to recede. Would a smokier blue complement the leadlight colours? You wouldn't want to detract from them. Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 336Oct 07, 2013 2:38 pm Thanks Treesachanger. I couldn't do black as it's too severe for me, and as you've suggested our front door is set back. I think it could work either way. We'll go with our original choice (baby blue) and if it looks terrible we'll change it I guess.
