This is a 1.2m section anywhere in the 1.8 m fence which has no footholds greater than 10mm. The fence can be extended with lattice , pailings or anything . We often use bamboo or timber slats like pics below Cheers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ . In that second photo, isn't the top of the stone feature wall less than 900mm from the top of the fence? ie. it's in the NCZ? Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 6Sep 17, 2013 9:16 pm The stackstone feature is 950 high . The 1.8 boundary wall can have the 900mm NCz at any part of the wall in NSW. Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 7Sep 18, 2013 8:06 am With the bamboo screens in the first photo, if I were to have 1800mm high bamboo attached to the inside of our existing timber rail and paling boundary fences similar to your photo, am I correct in my understanding that any climbing points on the other side of the fence (ie. on my neighbour's side of the fence) are irrelevant? Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 8Sep 18, 2013 7:23 pm Tats correct . The theory is you can't control what your neibours do. We often use bamboo in that second picture, if the building is used as a barrier, then there is a minimum requirement for the height of the windows. i dont think those windows comply with the Australian Standards Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 10Oct 02, 2013 12:00 am wheeliworks The stackstone feature is 950 high . The 1.8 boundary wall can have the 900mm NCz at any part of the wall in NSW. if its under the latest Australian Standard, a 1.8m boundary fence can be climbable from the outside ( ie neighbours side). There is also a NCZ of 900 from the top of the boundary fence. Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 11May 18, 2014 12:12 pm I've got a question about a boundary fence if the fence is meant to be 1.8m high, how is it measured? is it measured from the ground level? from the top of the pool coping? from the bottom of the fence? the reason I'm asking is 1) my pool is sticking out by 300mm above the ground 2) I'd like to build a stone wall along the boundary fence 450mm high, fill it up with soil and plant some soft plants that can't be climbable Something like that but with stacked stone http://foundandfreecottage.com/wp-conte ... -Fence.jpg would this be considered legal, or should I raise the fence to be 2250 (1800 +450)? Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 12May 20, 2014 9:44 pm Top of fence to bottom needs to be 1.8 the retained garden doesn't form part of this measurement, Re: Website with best practical info on pool fencing safety? 13Nov 19, 2018 9:38 pm Sorry to resurrect an old topic: In Victoria, if a boundary fence is closer than 500mm to the pool coping tiles/deck edge, then the fence must be 1.8 metres higher than the deck level, otherwise it it's further than 500mm from the pool, it must be at least 1.8 metres higher than ground level. Either way, must have non climbable zone of 900mm at top, and no footholds etc of 10mm or more. Is that correct? Is the magic figure I've marked in bold 500mm the correct minimum distance that the pool has to be away from the boundary fence if the boundary fence is only 1.9 metres high? Cheers.
