You look like you will pass us! haha As we are having a tiled roof the pod had to be constructed onsite, and cannot be craned in. I was quite comfortable with this although it can obviously not be constructed as the same time as the brickwork so slows down the process slightly. Our framing is now all up, and our roof tiles for the pod went on this Tuesday. I would expect the walls to be completed, and rendering done shortly. They will then be able to build the lower storey roof frame around the pod. We are probably roughly 2 weeks behind schedule, but this was purely due to weather. It turns out roof tilers are probably the worst when it comes to working in the rain haha! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 58Sep 06, 2013 4:36 pm alyce--b Is your pod being built offsite? You look like you will pass us! haha Yep - tin roof for us so apparently it has been done in 3 pieces. Not sure if the balcony is part of that or not. alyce--b You look like you will pass us! haha I'm hoping it's not a race But yeah, single storey house today, double storey this time next week. alyce--b Our framing is now all up, and our roof tiles for the pod went on this Tuesday. Always nice to compare progress alyce--b We are probably roughly 2 weeks behind schedule, but this was purely due to weather. It turns out roof tilers are probably the worst when it comes to working in the rain haha! I haven't bothered asking for a schedule for them beyond what is coming up in the next week or two - I'm not sure I'd trust the estimates and we have rent free accommodation so we have the freedom to take time to ensure we are taking the right approach to any issues that come up, rather than rushing through. And yeah, unfortunate about the tilers but I understand the safety factor on that front - especially if they are on the top floor Good to hear from you and glad someone else is progressing well with 101 - I felt a bit out of place with some of the criticisms that were being thrown at them on the forums recently. I do have some photos although need to figure out the easiest way to upload them! The roof tiles have turned out really nice, so I'm not complaining about the slight delay Definitely would be a safety concern on the top storey so it is completely understandable. Hopefully the pod finishes off nicely now and we continue to progress forward. Fingers crossed for some fine weather! Yes - likewise. Glad to hear your build is progressing well! I think it is more of a case that if people are happy with how things are doing they are less likely to comment on forums such as this. For me, it's my first time building. This is the only reason I joined the forum and found it useful reading through other peoples experiences. It is also great for people to see some positive stories, as unfortunately I think these forums can be a very unfair reflection on the builder. Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 60Sep 06, 2013 6:43 pm Our first time building too - and we have lived in 65sqm of apartment for the last 10 years so it isn't like we even have a good frame of reference for what is important when living in a house In terms of uploading photos - if you want to post and keep track of them outside of the forum here, I'd recommend using something simple like tumblr - check my blog in my signature for the sort of thing you can easily put together. In terms of photo dumping sites that you can link to photobucket or flickr are decent. All of them are free and should be relatively simple to use (tho I work in IT so maybe it all seems simple). In terms of posting and linking them in - make sure you are using the Full Editor option when you post and you'll see a bunch of tags up the top. Using "Img" will embed the image in your post, using "Url" will create a link to the image. Basically, you'll want in the post content - if you click the Preview button, you can confirm how it comes up and correct any issues. If you're still struggling PM and I should be able to help. Always happy to provide help if it means I'll get to see more photos of other peoples builds Demo + Build in Rivervale, Western Australia Moved in June 2014 http://rivervale.tumblr.com/ Building Thread 1 4671 |
