Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 35Aug 30, 2013 1:07 pm Ohhh how exciting! How was your holiday? Cant wait to see ur house in progress!! We decided to go with henley driveway, not do floorings with them, square set corners for the whole house, got rid of front rendering and stuck with face brick but with feature tiles on our piers, went with double glazing windows, expanded our laudry roo benches and cupboard.. Evrything came into budget so thankgod. Site cost is probision at 8k so im happy. The banks conditionally approved of the refinanced so im happy and just waiting till contract signing now... Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 36Oct 12, 2013 1:51 pm Suey Going for a very modern look. Semi white kitchen with snow white caeserstone benches, white gloss overhead cabinet, licorice laminate underbench cabinet and clear splashback (partner wanted the red desert one but i couldnt bring myself to say yes). Similar concept throughout the house. Latte/choco floor tiles and white wall tiles. We initially wanted a blue stone deco strip in the tiles but our designer tina at cosham (whom was great) told us it would date easily so we went with bold contrast colours instead. Our bricks are the austral fawn cat 2. We upgradef alot of the accessories and appliances. Fingers cross we wont go over too much of our budget! Hey suey, We just had our color appointment yesterday and we also had Tina as our consultant. She was great! Had a few issues with matching colors but she helped us out and her suggestion was great and wasnt pushy on us to upgrade this and that (althou she asked as a formality). I read through everything she typed and quite happy with what she gave us. No typos, no mistakes exactly what we said we wanted. Really happy! The red splash back would have looked great. My friend's got it in her place and it just stands out and gives an extra wow to the place Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 37Oct 12, 2013 3:33 pm Hey guys I have been meaning to comment in a while but haven't gotten around to it yet. From tender to contract signing it has been almost 4 months many issues and a requested change to administrator helped. In case you can still make changes I would suggest a cavity sliding door to the laundry I was suggested to me by another builder who said it will give us extra room in the laundry. Just thought I'd mention it we hope to start building in about 3 weeks. Ohh and if you think 28k for site costs is a lot ours is just over 30. The entire house is going to be built on bored piers. 4 Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 38Nov 04, 2013 12:48 am I am very likely to build with Henley (plantation homes they are called in Brisbane). Could anyone tell me what their contract process is? Initial Deposit $1500 --> they give u all the drawings and electrical plans ---> make any changes to house layout --> cosham studio for color selection --> TENDER (price to build with all change and colors upgrades ) ---> SIGN final contract ---> BUILD. Am i right? or I am missing any payment at a certain stage? I didn't ask the Sales at the office....hoping someone can give me some hints. Thanks Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 39Nov 04, 2013 12:51 am by the way...i will likely be building the mirage Q1. I dont see many people are going with Mirage. Originally liked Sahara Lux Q1....but will go for Mirage as it's slightly bigger~~ Could you guys share what your tendering comes to with all your upgrades and design changes? I know it differs case by case....but a figure would give me an idea what to expect and what budget I am looking at. Re: Our first Home :) the Sahara Q1 40Nov 15, 2013 7:48 pm Hi everyone. Sorry haven't been giving updates but everything back on track now so anyone that is following I will update now And update photos on my blog So far we are just waiting for bricks to arrive. House is wrapped and cables are all in. I second taking your plans elsewhere. They're yours (unless you ended up in one of those cheaper arrangements where you don't own the rights and the build will be tendered… 2 802 Sadly no movement on site since soak wells went in. There are also missing/wrong storm water drains which need to be sorted, along with a broken pipe. Plumbing has been… 14 38133 Cant give recommendations in general with that builder, but during the colour selection, this is honestly personal preference. Depends on the style you want. Do you want… 1 1164 |
