Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 25, 2013 5:41 pm Just wondering how much space a drawn curtain takes i.e. when you open the curtains, the material gathers on one side of the window - how much space does that normally take up? I'd like to have this as small as possible, is half a metre enough for a 6m wide window? Re: How much room to draw curtains? 3Aug 26, 2013 8:20 am It would depend on the style of curtain and the type of fabric. The fullness of the curtains would have an impact too (more fabric would take up more space). I just measured two windows/curtains here. Both are 1.8 m wide with the curtains opening to either side (so each curtain covers 90 cm). One window has flimsy cotton curtains with a tab top that you manually pull aside. When fully pushed back, each curtain is about 15 cm wide. The other is pinch pleat drapes with a cord pull. Each side measures about 35-40 cm when fully open. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Eeek - We're embarking on a knockdown rebuild! You may get close if you get all the factors working in your favour, but ideally you want a larger stack back area. Re: How much room to draw curtains? 5Aug 26, 2013 11:09 am Thanks for the feedback & info everyone! 4walls, can you please expand on the other factors that affect the stack back? I may need to rethink my window treatments if it's going to take up too much room, as I want a modern look and a huge stack back might look a bit wrong. have you used any of the motorised curtain systems available from Ebay? Which one and how is it? 0 2449 7 12134 |
