We have a huge 200 sqm wooden deck facing south towards the water. Its completely unprotected from the elements. Currently we are looking at all options to make it livable. I suspect a louvre system is the only way to truly add value to the home. May I ask your professional opinion what is the smart way to approach this problem? I can post some pictures if it helps. P.S. We did not install such a huge deck. It was done by the previous owner. However my 3 year old son does enjoy kicking a ball or riding bike on it. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 54Nov 04, 2013 3:54 am Hi Tuo, forgot to mention: your second photograph is used by one of the Gold Coast based patio installer on his name card. Is he your company's official installer here on the Gold Coast? The company name starts with G. I got his business card because Lysaught hotline referred me to him. If I want a quote for a Louvre system from your company, do I contact him or you? Btw, I still do not know who you are working for. I can only assume it is not Vergola since you keep talking about them been 40% more expensive. At least that is my impression from reading your posts in different forums regarding this topic. I am just a very interested customer, not looking for legal trouble here. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 55Nov 04, 2013 8:06 am Hey louvre buyer. Can't talk about who I work for because it's seen as promotion. All I can say is that we have authorized distributors all around the country selling the product we manufacturer. In making your decision about which louvre system to buy, I would consider the following things. 1. Aluminium vs steel - louvre steel is not the same as colorbond roof steel, the way it's bent and implemented voids all BHP colorbond warranties 2. Grade of aluminum vs aluminum - not all aluminum Louvres are made equal either, there are different grades that yield different results. 3. Interlocking vs overlapping - one is better for sealing from water, much superior and must more modern innovation. Don't let the overlapping guy tell you that his louvre is interlocking, it's not. Overlapping is 80's technology. 4. Span and strength. The strength will deter main how far you can go. 3.6m = poor quality 4.3m = best 5. Cost and value for money. There are providers out there who offer comparatively poorer quality for cheap. Good quality for medium money. And good quality for crazy money. I'd be going for the one who does good quality for medium money. It's a bit of the same with everything, I.e u get what you pay for. But be careful not to get ripped off. Happy for you to send me through the proposal and quote to help you make a call of whether the quote is fair, or any suggestions I might have to improve the functionality or cost efficiency of your design. There are many many ways to deign a louvre system, costs can vary up to 30% for the same coverage depending on how it's been laid out. Tuo Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 56Jan 06, 2014 1:03 pm Hi all, I am a building designer working in Melbourne and have done extensive research on all types of Louvre roof systems for a project i recently completed. Just read through this thread and thought it was worth a mention that with this type of product there is a huge level of difference in the systems i have seen and that i could possibly assist with any queries people have in a more unbiased and professional level. If anyone would like to ask please feel free Owen Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 57Jan 06, 2014 1:48 pm Hi Owen, You are very correct that there is a huge level of difference in systems. Just to correct your assumption, I am from the largest marketshare holder in the industry. Mainly because we are able to provide the best quality and technically capable blade, for a mid level price. So if you infer your 'mid level' comment by idea of price, then you are correct, our offering is very good value for money, infact, out of the 7 design consultants that we have, i currently design over 400 a year myself. Out of these 400, over half of them are in competitive situations, where by clients are seeking multiple opinions and quotes for very similar projects. Out of these projects, i have only lost 5 to my competition. Most of these situations where the competition made mistakes on their costings. All in all, when i am with a client who has gotten multiple quotes, it is very easy to see where we sit in comparison to the offerings - This being, quality of product, service, and price. The intention behind putting information out there, is to give the general public a source of information for the industry. Too many times, have i been to clients homes and they have not been able to find suitable information from their research as there is the lack of information out there. Great to have your input on the thread. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 58Mar 22, 2014 6:55 pm Hi Tuo Been looking at the posts about louvre roof systems and would appreciate your advice. We are currently building a new deck at our place and are interested in putting a pergola system with a louvre roof system over the top as we are facing west. We are in melbourne. What companies would you recommend us to look at? Thanks B Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 59Jul 21, 2014 4:18 pm I have a question - does anyone know if the aluminium louvres can be fitted to a timber frame? We have a fairly new pergola made of treated pine. When we built it the budget didn't stretch to a louvred roof but we didn't want to cover it as our yard faces north west. I'm now looking at options to make it a bit more useable while retaining the winter sun to the house. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 60Aug 12, 2014 7:19 am ITS A $500.00 PSQM SYSTEM. The system itself is prone to faults and leaks if not correctly installed. I personally like the look, but I am not a fan of the product. Too much can go wrong, too many moving parts. If you want 1, great. Be aware that they can fault easily. steve@everlastpatios.com.au www.everlastpatios.com.au If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted?
