I'm impressed! The tiles look great with small grout lines and it just opens up the place. He is going to do mine next week and I managed to get him down to $34/m2 as well. Hi Dion, Would you mind providing me with the contact details of this tiler you hired? Thank you very much! Re: Porcelain Tiles & Good Tiler - Perth 38Jan 04, 2014 7:34 pm WARNING - Please do not use Stonehenge in Port Kennedy, they tiled out brand new house. Left apprentices to do the job. The owner is arrogant and does not know the first thing about customer service. We have sharp corners on the shower recesses where we paid extra for mitred edges for the safety of our children. The tiles are continually falling off the base boards of the vanities in the bathroom, ensuite and main bathroom. They did not do the fall in the either shower recess correctly so continually have a build up of mould in the corners. The shower cubicle in the main bathroom was incorrect and we cannot open the door fully. Worst of all they did not water proof sufficiently, in both the ensuite and the main bathroom water has been leaking into the walls from the base of the shower where they laid the wall tile flat on the floor tile, not leaving any room for mortar, they also did not water proof around the taps. We have had to have a section of the hallway replastered, where the builder just waterproofed the hall wall - so god knows where the water is going to show up next as we are sure this has not fixed the problem. The warranty on our house has just expired and we are left with cracks and plaster falling off the wall in the hallway behind the shower of the main bathroom !!! So effectively we are living in a 8 year old house and have to completely re-tile all wet areas, and these are quite bit areas too !!! Just reading this post makes me feel even more sick in the stomach to think of how much we are going to be up for financially - with a house this young, we should not have to be forced to do such major renovations so soon....WARNING STAY AWAY FROM STONEHENGE they may have the flashy show room and sound really good at the start, but you will end up paying a lot more in the long run like we did..... Re: Porcelain Tiles & Good Tiler - Perth 39Jan 05, 2014 7:46 am Guys don't be hung up on the cheapest price to lay the tiles. You will get what you pay for. My experience is that tiling will be from 50-90 per m2 depending on two things incl mat excl tiles 1. How are they glued down? - Cheapest method is straight to the slab with flexible adhesive it's quick and easier but...risks are eventual cracks as the slab shrinks and expands even with porcelain - Then there is a screed layer.... By far a superior method whereby a dry mortar mix is used to create a base then tiles are glued on top. Tiles won't crack as the screed layer takes up the movement in the slab. 2. The size of the tile... 300x300 are their preferred because they are small. As you get bigger it may cost a little more. I only saw yesterday a new 900x1200 tile but it's a two man job to lay, very expensive so don't think that will get much traction in the domestic market. So that's just a couple of things to think about. Dion did you end up going with him? If so, how did it turn out? Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design. Also are you… 6 7028 9 24757 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7258 |
