A friend of ours used wood - I think it was a slab of merbau(sp??)!from Masters and the guy there actually recommended it to him with some sort of coating to paint on it for weather protection. It didn't really work as the timber started curling up on the ends and warping. It was quite thick too, maybe 30mm. So I guess wood is definitely out of the question... When you use timber you need the make sure you coat both sides evenly. If you don't it will result in the timber bowing/curling Re: Outdoor BBQ Benchtops 18Aug 16, 2013 9:23 am JML 71monaro maximus You can source caesarstone etc off cuts relatively easily. I seem to recall someone saying do not put engineered stone in the sun, as the glues would go off!! can anyone confirm this? Engineered stone such as caesarstone, quantum quartz, etc are not suitable for outdoor use. These products are crushed up stone that are compressed with binders. In the outdoors the UV rays from the sun break down the binders and you will find the stone begins to fade and chalk over time. Ultimately it will become an expensive mistake Is this proven? Most kitchens I know of are in full sun. How would this differ i wonder?? Re: Outdoor BBQ Benchtops 19Aug 16, 2013 11:04 am miteq Is this proven? Most kitchens I know of are in full sun. Indoor kitchens will generally receive light through a window and standard glass does have some UV properties. Unless specially treated, standard glass will allow UV-A through but will block UV-b and UV-c. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me About a year ago, I embarked on a DIY project to construct an outdoor Pergola, which measures approximately 5.2 meters by 4.0… 0 30015 Natural stone tiles like slate, travertine, and limestone add a timeless, elegant look to… 0 28167 thanks. the above one is white Mat tiles and have gripness so going for this Mat tiles for both indoor and outdoor.
