Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Jem's custom build - our journey! Soo close.... 481Aug 08, 2013 9:56 am Well apparently hubby has advised the builder that we won't require them to do the after build clean. :s So it looks like I'll have not just the rental to clean but a new build clean to do as well. The upside I guess is that we'll save $500 in cleaning bills.... I guess I'll be making a start on the cleaning this weekend... any advice in good cleaning products or cleaning techniques? Re: Jem's custom build - our journey! Soo close.... 482Aug 08, 2013 11:08 am I'd just find a cheaper, better cleaning company to do it for you. We got our rental cleaned for $450 but it was the most thorough clean I've ever seen anyone do ever and that was with carpet cleaning so if you didn't need that it would probably be less. I wouldn't want having to clean that much to ruin moving into my awesome new house. But...I really hate cleaning. The small bit he did laid isn't parrell/square with the entrance walls so looks crooked. So he'll be ripping it up and starting again... Hubby's arrived home and filled me in further. Apparently when the flooring guy arrived hubby open the door for him and he walked straight past him without even saying hello. He also had his wife/partner who walked herself through the house for a sticky beak. She left pretty quickly once they worked out that hubby was actually the owner though. Hubby has a feeling that she was there to help out... hmmm not very professional. Anyway he didn't stay long as he had to leave as his son broke his arm (or so he says). So check out this pic - you can see the straight line in the middle that he marked out (with hubby's help) and not one of the boards line up with it! Soo close.... 485Aug 11, 2013 9:37 pm All better now - flooring guy returned today and has ripped up what he did yesterday and started agsin. Still not happ with the way the flooring ends at the sliding doors (looks like crooked cuts) but we'll wait and see how he finishes it off before getting cranky... Flooring dramas!!! 494Aug 16, 2013 6:03 pm Good news and bad news..... Good news - flooring was ripped up and being redone this afternoon. Bad news - the bloody tradesman laying it has been smoking in our new house!!!! Soo cranky. Our eldest has asthma so definitely don't want smoke residue in the house! Jem's Custom build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=58630 Re: Jem's custom build - our journey! Flooring dramas!!! 495Aug 16, 2013 6:46 pm How rude to smoke in your house!! Flooring dramas!!! 496Sep 04, 2013 1:46 pm We have a certificate of occupancy! So just waiting on finance to go through so we can have handover. Hopefully we'll be moving in the next week or so. The flooring is still a little off but is being fixed. The flooring guys really didn't have much of an idea of what they were doing I don't think. It started lifting in places which made it look terrible. Jem's Custom build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=58630 Re: Jem's custom build - our journey! Flooring dramas!!! 500Sep 04, 2013 1:59 pm Any ideas on what curtains we should put on the sliding doors? We're going roller blinds for the rest of the house. I have a quote for rollers for the sliding doors too but not sure how they will go as they will need to be mounted on the architrave at the top and not inside the door frame as I'd hoped. Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7474 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34614 6 55847 |
