Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 21Aug 12, 2013 9:29 pm Hi AAAHome. The Fairmont 38 is in our short list and I'm curious and surprised at the 455k initial quote. I spent a long time with one of their consultants on the weekend and he gave me a ballpark figure of 378 (298 Sapphire package + 20 Gallery facade + 10 HT + 25 grand alfresco + 25 rear balcony). Does the 455 include site costs/basix? Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 22Aug 14, 2013 5:23 am Hi Sheilzy Yes, it includes every thing from BASIX to most of the provisional allowances. However the sales guy didn't include the PA for electricals, I assume its just a mistake. Since the Fairmont 38 didn't fit our block size he changed the design of Sherwood to our liking. Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 23Aug 14, 2013 8:10 am Kath Hi, it is with the designer series. The contract was delayed as there was a job loss just before signing so they did accommodate our request. After all they want our business! I am building in 2119 which is full of trees, nice but a headache to build around. Are your neighbours happy with the Waterside? Does it look good? Hi Kath - yes, they are happy with the Waterside and were very happy with the quality of the build. Though they probably haven't had a chance to sit back and enjoy the home as they're busy with post-handover tasks, such as installing flooring. There were a couple of regrets highlighted - not taking the opportunity to convert to a 3-piece powder room and not having a wide door for the front entry (made it challenging to get furniture through the current door). As for looks - it looks huge (from the outside) and looks just like the display home (minus the grand alfresco) at Parklea display centre, too. Just being curious, did you have a look at their Waterfall 34 design? If so, what swayed you to choose the Waterside over Waterfall? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 24Aug 14, 2013 8:22 am AAAHome - sorry to hear the Fairmont 38 doesn't fit, was the quote less than 500k and did it include a cost for hydraulics (for comparing with WH)? I hope the adjustments for Sherwood to fit onto your block doesn't compromise the size of the house/rooms - sometimes these changes are not noticeable and other times they are. Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 25Aug 14, 2013 10:31 am Hi dotgif, It comes to 440k but when I added all the standard components that are included in the WH tender, it goes over 500k and that too for a 37sq house as opposed to 41sq that we are getting from WH. Also WH comes easily on top with the inclusions like ceaserstone to all the benchtops (Clarendon has laminate for laundry even in their Sapphire inclusion), D/washer,Microwave etc., Most probably we will go with WH only as I am confident that I can knock down some of the PA's that's been included. For example the standard tiles that comes from Di Lorenzo's is good enough and that itself is a saving of 5K in the PA. As I've mentioned before my main concern with WH is the PA for hydraulics which is 20K and I don't have any knowledge about the actual cost for that. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Also the external quote for demolition comes 2.5k less that what WH has quoted. I am leaning towards giving the demo to them as any issues that might arise from that will be handled by them. What do you think? Thanks Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 26Aug 14, 2013 2:41 pm AAAHome - so the WH ads on the radio are true: extras for other builders come as inclusions for WH I have no experience with a knock-down and rebuild, but have you asked whether WH can match or come close to 2.5k for the demolitian or reduce the cost of the house by 2.5k? As for the hydraulics, hopefully someone on H1 can provide their experience on that one? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 27Aug 23, 2013 4:58 pm Hi All, We just accepted our tender for Fairmont 34 with Clarendon and will be going in to contract in a couple of weeks. We are building in Seaforth and look forward to sharing our experience with everyone. Cheers Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 28Aug 23, 2013 5:08 pm Whoo Whoo!! Good Luck mick83. Fairmont is a beautiful house and what facade have you choosen? My wife and myself like the WIR's in particular but unfortunately it won't fit our block size. Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 29Sep 10, 2013 11:19 am We are going with Linea. Our original choice was Gallery but that adds another 30K to the price, not worth for a balcony we wont be using. We also had to make a few changes for it to fit our block as its an odd shaped block. We will be seeking exemptions from council for it to still fit the block so fingers crossed. Just realised its been a few weeks since my first post. Since then we signed off the tender, got the plans and contract and are going for our contract meeting tomorrow. So far it all seems to be going to plan. Re: Clarendon - Fairmont 38 30Sep 11, 2013 9:07 pm @mick83 - hope the contract meeting went well and you survived signing each and every page in that document, twice over! @AAAHome - how is your journey going, so far? Locked in with WH now? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6979 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
