Was great to meet our neighbours and also people from our area. Really looking forward to moving in now Was informative and feel a little calmer with regards to our area and where it is up to with regards to registration K & J Building Havana 1 McDonald Jones - Brooks Reach NSW Land Deposit 20/1/13 House Deposit paid 27/7/13 Construction Started 23/1/14 Keys Handed over 1/8/14 Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 1089Aug 10, 2013 4:48 pm It was quite frustrating today as we got there late (had 3 soccer games). so we didn't get to meet anyone Daz, we did the slow drive-by past you on our way back out we were going to come and introduce ourselves but you and your wife had left already Ruby, I haven't read the whole site yet. only passing on the info as I follow Katrina Chambers (from the block) blog and she was highly recommending them! so i thought if she is happy with the quality they must be pretty good. i'll see how confident i am at measuring and installing them after i watch the videos though, lol. I know 10 weeks is a long time but if it saves about $4000 then i don't mind how long it takes or what forest it comes from (my bad?), lol. anyway. at least we now know the block of land we have been taking photos of is actually ours now that they have lot pegs the boys enjoyed standing in their future rooms It's all getting exciting! can't wait for October to come around Building the Nova with MJH http://thehousethatj-lbuilt.blogspot.com.au "When you are arguing against Him, you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all." Just wanted to share this horrible, nasty, gutless post someone posted on my blog tonight at 5.50pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ .. maybe it's just me but I feel I've been pretty reserved in sharing my real feelings about the quality of build/issues we've experienced. This comment was posted on the 'beginnings of our kitchen' post.. so I assume it's in relation to the carpenter working on site? Either way, good for a laugh. hope you're all well Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 1092Aug 10, 2013 6:46 pm Ruby, I can't believe that! I wonder who would go out of their way to go back through your posts and write something like that? It's very odd... We went to the 'walk on your land' day today and it was really great to hear the update on our registration progress (late Sept/early Oct for stage 7) and we also met our neighbours who were really nice! Sorry you didn't get to meet anyone Joh Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 1094Aug 10, 2013 10:13 pm oh my goodness Ruby, how rude is that!!! i'm glad you are not letting it bring you down. do you think it's someone who knows your ss or something, lol? one of the blogs i follow (who is also on home one) had some really nasty comments about her "McMansion". some people have a real problem with honesty. it's clear that you are loving your house and very exciting and don't complain. all you are doing is pointing out the problems you have come across which is helping others for when its their turn. i'm grateful for you blog and your contribution on this thread! keep it up. I am thinking I'll mention it to our Site Supervisor just to cover ourselves and if any other issues arise I'll lodge a complaint with the Building licencing board/Fair Trading. We're also going to let the police know too just so we've covered all bases. Silly people out there being bullies; I love that they think my blog has reached enough people to 'ruin the reputation' of Clarendon/their tradies. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It wasn't our first choice of colour but i tihnk its turned out well; will have to check it out from the inside though haha. Looks like that painter had been back to do all his bits (except the nib/side walls next to the splashback), pantry shelving looks complete, shower frames are in (still no strip tiling above the vanity in ensuite though), water tank has been delivered but not hooked up and the plumber hasn't moved the sewer vent or stormwater pit yet. Hopefully we'll touch base with our SS tomorrow and have a better indication as to when things are going to progress. Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 1098Aug 11, 2013 7:56 pm your splash-back looks great! so it's not going to wrap around the sides? i'm pretty sure ours does. why didn't that part get painted before? so close now for you Ruby! Ruby, there are some who can't take feedback for improvement, and act cheap like the one who posted. you took the right steps of informing relevant stakeholders and I hope you feel alright in a few days. That glass splashback looks spectacular. What about glass on your returns? And I love those waterfall edges to the island bench. I hope you soon get to hear good news from your SS. Cheers.
