Note : kitchen sinks and vanity bowls are hard plumbed in ( mostly ) but dishwashers just have a small tap with the hose connected to it. Fridges are pretty much the same. And for the record I don't believe we are behind the rest of the world when it comes to building practices at all except for maybe insulation and solar.
