I Think I have found where the smell is coming from. I went to check the new storm water pipes as the rain was heavy and I went check to see if I could see any water anywhere and I did which is good news. There is water coming somehow on the sewer vent (the outlet for the fumes etc). This pipe is in the wall cavity and at te entry point the wood is wet. I assume the wood etc is wet all around the pipe as it goes in the cavity. Will be getting on the roof when it's dry to see what the story is.
