And you're right, the land does belong to somebody, it belongs to the developer! Time to start making a fuss... Give the developer a call (start with the sales person who sold you your block of land), confirm that the land hasn't been sold yet, and ask them how to go about getting permission for your garage directly from them. Or have it moved back from the boundary. Sucks to have to do their job for them but that's how it seems to work. Get used to it, the number of problems I've spotted for them throughout the build has amazed me. So many dumb mistakes. I could have sat back, but then I'd have a house that had lots of mistakes. HD Oh I have made a fuss, I've been onto the developer, their solicitor, the council repeatedly. We are having the garage 150mm off the boundary as I knew on the boundary would cause this issue. No, it is because the cut and fill on the block mean that the garage height is over 3M from NGL ( Natural Ground Level) something you do not easily see on plans. My major issue, is that my BC did not communicate anything apart from "no one owns the land so we can't get the dispensation" after a couple of calls to find out what was going on. I wasn't even told what was going on and why the hold up. Once I knew, I hit the phones and emails with a vengence. I dount anyone has enough money to pay two mortgages with nothing happening. For anyone who is interested how this came about. The facts are, it has been sold to "A person" who have had their settlement extended. They did not respond and the developer did not want to sign because it could cause them not to settle (the land not being in the same state as when they purchased) forget that they too were supposed to settle in May and have had a number of extensions and it is now July 10 and they still have not settled. The developer does not want to cause issues and stop settlement. I had a long discussion with the solicitor as we, who settled on time and paid $10K over the asking price, (went to sealed bids as there were 3 couples interested) are being penalised for doing the right thing. I think that the solicitor had a talk to the vendor who has now signed, but because it went through council as a " no response" we have to wait for the advertising period to end. It is now past the council deadline and another message left for the BC to find out what is going on...... Re: Porter Davis homes 7573Jul 11, 2013 10:13 am suzybuzy also we have decided to do a blog, as reading them helped us a fair bit esp in terms of upgrades and colour schemes etc ... if anyone is interested we are building the drysdale 30 traralgondrysdale.blogspot.com.au Fabulous, I love reading other peoples blogs. It all looks great. For some reason your tile photos aren't showing up for me. This is one of my favourite bits. I love the colours of everything else. All the best today with your contract. Re: Porter Davis homes 7574Jul 11, 2013 11:47 am Sambogirl81 Correct me if I'm wrong but I think your the one that works with my mum Sue!!! Mum had told me bout your dramas and I think she is just as devastated as you are. . Still haven't heard from her only to be told that we were in the amendment que. I'm sorry but I work in customer service and I never place my clients in a que, are you telling me my money is no good! There is a lot of area for PD to improve, hopefully it all happens soon. Sam Hi Sam yes it is me who works with your Mum, she has been very patient listening to all my dramas It would seem that the front of house service (i.e. the sales consultants and contract presenters) does not match the back office customer from the BCs. Good luck with the PCV, ours is going on nearly 3 months and we still havent received it. Thanks to everyone regarding your responses, but with a bit of luck we received a phone call from one of the general managers yesterday (only because our solicitor knew them personally rather than my email to escalate to management to the BC). We finally received some honest answers rather than rain delays and it looks like the build may start in November with an October land settlement date. It was agreed that the customer service we and others have received from the BCs is unacceptable. We have also made the point that it is a sad state of affairs when you have to go on a public forum to get issues escalated internally. I question what training and the experience of some of the BCs that we are dealing with on a daily basis. Feeling a bit more optomistic, although it shouldn't have had to have management to provide us with some answers. Land title: July 2013 .. Oct 2013 ... Good taste! And from a quick look at your blog we've got similar tastes - our external colours are very similar - what facade have you chosen? Looking forward to following your progress as I'm sure you'll be following ours too It does seen a popular one hey!! We just went with the seaside fascade, I liked it the best and loved it wasn't an additional cost! We are just sitting waiting for our contract to be fixed up. Quite a few errors in it, but we changed a few things too. The staff are great so far, we are also sitting at 800 under budget!!! Couldn't believe it!!! Re: Porter Davis homes 7576Jul 11, 2013 12:09 pm Team PD suzybuzy Hi everyone I've really enjoyed reading through these posts, we have our contract day tomorrow.Is/has anyone else built in the Traralgon area? Well done on being under budget!!! http://msarebuilding.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Porter Davis homes 7579Jul 12, 2013 12:45 pm ftdt7882 MummaDJ ftdt7882 Hey guys. Popping my head in here after signing our contract. Which took 5 hours because drawings were wrong, some things weren't included from our colour selection documents etc. There were still a few things left after doing all the revisions but we are doing those as PCV's. Anyway... can anyone tell me if it cost extra for them to lay rectangular tiles in a 'brick lay' pattern instead of 'straight lay'? thanks! Yes, we had to pay a little extra for brick bond laying, when questioned we were told something like there is a little more wastage. Thanks. I am fairly certain I had brick lay in our original tile quote, but our updated one has come back as straight lay. Don't have the original one with me today! Can't remember, too much stuff going on!!! hi, we had our contract yesterday and it went for 5.5 hours! sheesh! such a long time, but we weren't leaving til everything was correct. We didnt feel presured to leave though, so that was good. Laying the bricks that way is about an dextra $3/meter. Re: Porter Davis homes 7580Jul 12, 2013 2:53 pm i have couple more questions 1. anyone went with window reveal splashback in kitchen? whats the std size, and what kind of glass PD uses for this window? we been quoted $800 but no details. 2. anyone here opt in for security system from PD for double storey house? are they good or better to get it installed later on? 3. heating ducts upgrade for future evaporative cooling. is it good upgrade for future profing? what size duct PD upgrade to? thanks in advance.
