Browse Forums Building A New House Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 51Jun 30, 2013 4:39 pm Hi Barnsee I can't believe the coincidence - my daughter plays netball at the courts near your house and I was admiring the render colours! Would you mind telling me what colours they are as I think they might work well with our build. Thanks! House is looking great by the way! Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 52Jul 17, 2013 12:10 pm Sazzy, the cabinets color are Truffle Lini- **Gloss finish** by Polytec Laminate Addisont, when you say all that has to be done, i think your more than a month behind. The internal finishing's seem to take ages, and then on top of that you need to make sure there is nothing wrong with the finishing's. Our splashback was the wrong colour and you find little things around the house that havnt quite been completed that you need to make sure the builder completes. Addisont our tiling meeting was around May, and our first floor render was in April. So its taken almost 3-4 months since then. I dont have current picture of the stairs since its at lock up stage. It should be finished in about week, I HOPE! Judy the render colours are Solver Paints Slightly 6302 (White) London Fog 2766 (Grey) Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 53Jul 18, 2013 12:43 pm Hi Barnsee, Sounds like you have a different site supervisor to us, as our house is being completed in a fairly different order to yours. Cabinets went in 2 wks ago, then benchtops and render painting finished last week. Had our tile meeting yesterday. Got to update them on the little problems we've noticed so far. Not that hard for us as we only live about 1km from our block. Here's hoping your on schedule for handover soon!!! You've gotta be getting excited!! Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 54Jul 18, 2013 1:28 pm Addisont, is your house at lockup stage yet? Seems strange that would install cabinets and benchtops when not at lockup stage. Otherwise things can get stolen if the house isnt locked. Yeah i am excited, hopefully find out today when the house will be finsihed. Hopefully next week sometime will make me happy! Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 56Jul 19, 2013 2:30 pm Just got word from my builder that PCI (Practical Completion Inspection) will be Wed 31st July! Wooohoo cant wait! Crap just read the terms of this. This not hand over. Hand over is another 10-15 days after depending on the items you raise at PCI! Thats crap! Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 57Jul 31, 2013 10:54 pm addisont Technically it is at lockup (all windows and doors installed and shut up) but haven't been billed for it...yet. It's been at lockup for about a month now. Hi Barnsee, forgot to come back and say the bill hasn't been issued as it's fully locked up but the handles haven't been installed (a delay with delivery by gainsborough). Tiling's now finished, and kitchen appliances were delivered the other day. How'd you go today?? Hope you had a great meeting. Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 58Aug 01, 2013 5:55 pm The meeting was ok, but i am disapointed with the garage. Basically what has happened is that the with the second story comign forward there is a post sticking out a small amount in the garage and now my garage requires jambs. On the left hand side there is only 80mm clearance and they require 120mm so i have ugly jambs there now. The other thing is i loose 120mm on each side because of the jambs, and my other concern is they are metal and the door tracks sit behind them, so if you accidentally hit them, you will most likely break the garage door or damage the tracks. Not happy! Apart from that everything else was fine. Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 59Aug 07, 2013 5:07 pm We picked up our keys today and we couldn’t be happier with Lorimer. We had our practical completion inspection on Friday 2 August. There was only a very short list of minor things that needed to be fixed (paint touch ups etc). Our site manager organized for them to be fixed up very quickly and less than a week later we have been able to pick up our keys. Before signing with Lorimer and as first time builders, we were worried about the unknowns of building process. Our main concerns were being hit with hidden costs, the build time being too long and the quality of the workmanship. Fortunately, none of those problems ever eventuated. There were no hidden costs and our build was completed for the contract price except for a couple of small variations which were out of Lorimer’s control. We also actually got a refund of about $1,200 from our contract price because the provisional sum that we paid for the earthworks was actually more than the actual cost so Lorimer refunded us the difference. The build time was 10 months and 3 weeks from the time they put the slab down to key handover. We were told that the build time would be approximately 10-12 months from slab down so they were true to their word. The worst part was of the build was waiting for the plans to get through council. Once it got to site, things moved very quickly, especially since the start of this year after the Christmas/New Year break. From the time we signed our contracts it was just over 16 months before we got our keys. Finally, the workmanship seems to be a very high quality. We have been happy with the workmanship in everything from the brickwork to the external render to the tiling. Our timeline for the build was: 11 March – Contract signed 15 June – Plans approved by Council 16 July – Building application approved by Council 27 August – Earthworks started 15 September – Slab down 3 October – Ground floor Brickwork started 17 October – Ground floor Brickwork Finished 3 December – Second Storey slab 8 January - 2nd storey brickwork started 23 January - 2nd storey brickwork finished 21 February – External Render / Internal Plaster Started 1 March – External Render Complete 20 March - 1st storey roof started 4 April – 1st storey Roof finished 26 April – Ceilings installed 8 May – Lockup 13 May – Kitchen and bathroom cabinets 27 May – Tiling 13 June - Render complete 19 July - Practical Completion 2 August - Practical Completion Inspection 7 August - Key Handover I hope everyone else’s build with Lorimer goes this smoothly. From our experience, I would definitely recommend Lorimer Homes. Re: House Build Perth WA - Lorimer 60Aug 09, 2013 3:40 pm Wow congrats Jackson..........! Im still waiting for my keys due to a few hiccups right at the end. Practical completion inspection was on the 31st of July. Jackson you were lucky you got your keys so quickly.
