I said I was unhappy that no one bothered to call me and that really I'm not keen on waiting any longer and would like a refund. She said no, basically. She said she can have them ready in one day. I rang consumer protection and they said I need to give them 48 hours to have the curtains in my home. I doubt they will manage that and sort of hope they don't coz I just want to get some ikea ones and get better quality ones later, coz really broke at the moment and could really use that refunded $500. Anyway we will see what happens. They only have one block out curtain, it's a navy blue. I can use it for my sons room but they didn't have any in stock. Does anyone know if its bad decorating to use different hanging methods for curtains in different rooms? This curtains thing is so difficult. Re: My Dreamhome with Goodlife ABC Blinds Curtain disaster 344Jun 11, 2013 9:48 pm So I got my refund from ABC Blinds, and today went to Ikea and bought their $6.95 sheers for almost every room in the house. I also bought double wall hook things and rods. I plan to get navy blockouts for my son's room, planning a nautical theme for him. Pink for my daughter's room. For the living areas, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a really nice fabric or readymade, in a warm browney beige. Theatre will have to be custom drapes I think. I can't decide on a theme for the master suite. I've always loved dark, den like sleeping environments with dark reds, browns and blacks, but my husband is keen on clean, light and bright. I got some ready made curtains for the study, just a cheapy from Lincraft, I'm keen to see how it looks. Really need some decorating ideas for the study and guest room. I want to use those rooms for exploring other colours that I wouldn't usually use, like yellow or green. I'm using apple green for accent colour in my kitchen, dining & family areas. Citron (yellow with tinge green) in master. Teal in main bathroom plus maybe theatre. Greys and whites are main colours. Sounds like total opposite to your colour palette hehe Re: My Dreamhome with Goodlife ABC Blinds Curtain disaster 346Jun 15, 2013 3:43 pm Planter. Re: My Dreamhome with Goodlife ABC Blinds Curtain disaster 350Jun 16, 2013 1:02 pm Husband did the bricks for the planter and we got it rendered by a pro. I'm very impressed with my husbands work, his first time with bricks and I couldn't be happier. Rendering cost $350, and we used bricks that were leftovers from all over the neighborhood. Even half the cement was free coz the plasterers over the road had leftovers at the end of the day. Now he wants to build a woodfire oven and coal barbecue out the back, he's already done the slab. Trying to get our gate done, starting from scratch coz I'm not happy with the one he's made with treated pine. Gonna go to bunnings and get decking to make the gate. I just want ordinary grass out back but have no idea when we will get onto that. Still need to hang all of them and then to hem, iron and get tie backs and finials. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I found some great black soft curtain fabric at textile traders, it's already got the heading so I just need to hem them, they'll be perfect for my theatre. Waiting on them to get some in stock, then ill take it to my friends place where I can use her industrial sewing machine and get them ready for hanging! Can't wait to have curtains in my theatre, it gets cold in there! Am now inspired to make curtains for the rest of the house, coz all the ready made ones are 10cm too short (I like to hang from ceiling height). I decided on a triangular shaped garden bed in the front, with a small sqaure around my letterbox. The square will be empty until I plant some irises or something. The garden bed will have red kangaroo paws and Birds of Paradise. The edge of my driveway will have a hedge with red flowers, can't remember the name already! I have a big verge down the side coz I'm the corner. There will be red grevillea, silver bush and another tall hedge along the retaining wall that also has white flowers. Now I need to go and buy nice garden edging. We can stain it to match our door and letterbox. Need to spray them to get the creases out. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Once they hang properly ill get some tie backs or hooks, and finials. I have white rods, must I get white finials? Should I get decorative or subtle? Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: My Dreamhome with Goodlife ABC Blinds Curtain disaster 357Jun 22, 2013 8:18 pm I've got a few oil paintings I need mounted and framed. Having searched around, it seems the going rate to mount canvas is $60 a piece. We will probably do this ourselves. Don't feel like making frames on top though, but might have to if we can't find cheap ones. It's a really big room! I actually spent two hours ironing just one pair and they still didn't hang perfectly. Keep in mind that if you get cheap ikea curtains they will look it unless u up weights in the bottom hem. I really need to sew the curtains together too but I just hate sewing And my sewing room is still a shambles with everything pushed to the center of the room coz my husband still hasn't finished painting. And never will it seems. We're going with white wooden venetians for window coverings. Got our login to the progress watcher thing last night. Also got a mailed copy of our scribbled on floorplan.
