Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 3Jun 24, 2013 9:19 pm Hi 234Uche, We are using PlanBuild for our build on the Sunshine Coast. We felt that they gave the best value for money among the builder whom we spoke with. They have taken longer than we expected to get started though (We did color selections on the first week of May and only this week will our slab go down) Will keep you posted on how it comes along. Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 4Aug 01, 2013 2:54 am Hi any updates on PLANBUILD, i have just discovered them, i have been looking at builders such as indigo and plantation gjgardner, what do they compare like, their prices off plan seem very reasonable, its like something is not right, and they sting you in the site works stage? Can anyone confirm their prices are legit and fixed and you dont get a quote then go sign up a contract in writing at a later stage and you are 45k up from where you started Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 5Aug 11, 2013 3:16 pm I've had friends build with planbuild near brisbane and she had a few hiccups with the council side of things since there were alot of changes made to the plans (her decision) Other than that she was really happy with the build and the finish they were 3 weeks over schedule. The price was the same from the moment they signed to when they finished. We are looking at building with them at the sunshine coast, i know its a different crew building the house and theres no reviews which seems weird. We have watched 2 planbuild homes getting built in our area and they seem to go up really quickly and the quality seems fine, but we haven't seen the inside after handover. Julesmr2 could you please keep us updated with the build that would be much appreciated. Fingers crossed it goes well for you! Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 6Aug 24, 2013 9:04 am Hi Guys, I'm currently in the process of building with PlanBuild just waiting on council approval, I have given them the original deposit, as well as the 5% required to get things going.. I will post back how things go, I have a thread on whirlpool with my updates. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... ?t=2109511 Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 7Aug 30, 2013 11:35 am Hi again, We too found it strange that there are little to no reviews on planbuild... After much frustration with the time it took to get the contract finalised. We had our slab poured then things really increased in pace. Our frame was up in 3 days and ill be doing a walk through next week. If. Everything is ok we will have handover late next week. We saved some money by doing the floors/driveway/range hood and landscaping ourselves. We will post pics when we get in there next week. Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 8Aug 30, 2013 11:45 am With regard to there pricing, it's actually pretty good. We took an old barossa design that they don't currently have on their website as it suited our block better than anything out there. ($149k from memory) Site costs were no extra even though we have a p class site. You can get stung by variances but we provided almost all of them like bath, fittings, toilets, range hood, etc. our contract included cesarstone, colour bond roof and wide entry door. We only added waterfall edges to the island top and upgraded facia (4k for a skillion roof that we were quoted $15k with two other builders) They told us it would be $6k to do a driveway so we found a local company who are doing it for 2k. We were also told that they would do tile/carpet flooring for approx 8k. We went to a local concrete polishing company and they did the job for $5k (we love polished concrete Although its not for everyone...) Planbuild pricing seems very strong. I would say the money planbuild save on not producing that big brochure magazine that plantation give you, is passed on in savings to the customer. Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 10Oct 09, 2013 9:37 am There are lots of Planbuild signs around the north side in areas such as Griffin and North Lakes etc and lots of slabs going down at present. Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 11Oct 09, 2013 4:03 pm Hi, we are just starting the process with PlanBuild Homes, so far so good, the sales person is really helpful and answering all our question very quickly. ANd we made couple of changes, including one thats a roof line change - we are building bigger alfresco. And even that wasnt really expensive. After reading all your posts I will definitely have a closer look at driveway - can you recommend someone maybe ? We are already doing our floors elsewhere to save some money. We are building in Ferny Grove in Brisbane. And we are most probably building "Greenwich" Glad that I found this site, to exchange some info, as you all know there is not much about this builder. I will update you when I will be more into building Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 13Nov 19, 2013 11:42 pm I am currently considering Planbuild and one other builder (Valeco) for our upcoming build. I am already following Mr.Gomo's thread over at Whirlpool, but keen to get more stories and experiences from people who have built with them. I'll take liberty thanks. We are presently waiting for a start date to build our Plan Build Home on the Sunshine Coast also. How did the building process go. Did you have any problems in the process at all and hopefully you are in your new home already. It has been quite a long drawn out process to get where we are today. Look forward to any updates you can give me. Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 15May 01, 2014 7:31 pm In the process of building with planbuild.... Signed everything back in October, was told 14 days ago, slab would go down within 20 days... We asked if they use the 20 days we were told absolutely not will go down quickly, still have no clue as too when it will be poured. not very impressed with planbuild so far... Hoping the finished result will be worth it.. Sales man could not be faulted but once handed over has been nothing but a joke Building with Planbuild - Claremont 2715 - Outer North Brisbane Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 16May 02, 2014 7:27 pm Hi Savish, please keep me posted how things progress with your build. Currently in process of building with PB too. We are also waiting to commence construction. Edited to add, we have had similar experience. Happy with salesman, but since then - just so much waiting, lack of communication, no clear timelines etc. Building a Regatta 2920 with Planbuild in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71425 Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 17May 29, 2014 10:42 pm I am currently documenting my build with Planbuild here: We are just past frame stage. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71425 Building a Regatta 2920 with Planbuild in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71425 Re: Has anyone built with Plan Build Homes? 18Mar 11, 2015 1:46 pm Our issues started before construction. They are a horrible company to try and communicate with. I lived in another state so it was not easy to visit the construction site as it was a 2 hour plane ride. On our first scheduled inspection, the entire house was covered on plastic by the painters so I could not see anything or even enter the house due to the fumes. Also the site supervisor was more the 2 hours late and never bothered to call to let us know so by the time he got there I had 15 mins with him before having to leave for my flight home. He was aware when he was confronted but just seemed not to care. During final inspection there were so many issues the whole house was covered in " fix this " orange stickers. The taps and toilets were not in the house the gas was not connected. The list of issues was very long. After moving in we immediately noticed the paint was so thin (through the entire house) you could see the blue from the gyprock bleeding through. The roof was not sealed properly so when it rained we noticed we had a wall that was wet and bubbling with water. The master bedroom window was not cut correctly so you can not fully open the windows as they bang into one another. There were gaps in the joint of the house on the outside that should of been filled with silicon but we're not so I had to do it. They installed the wrong front door. It was fixed however the old door was sitting in our yard when we moved in, it took them several days to remove it. The carpet is cheap and we would have selected a better quality had it been offered. Choices were very limited regarding internal fittings. Look I could keep going but I think I have got my point across. I would never recommend plandbuild to anyone. The job is done with very very little attention to detail. They will just cause you stress and disappointment. We expected there to be minor issues to be noted and corrected after moving in, however these were major issues which we were told would be rectified prior to moving in. We did advise planbuild of these issues after moving in and they have fixed some of them to date, but it is the lack of attention to detail and pride in the work that irritates us the most.
