We always suggest customers do their research and even test 1 out for a while before committing to any particular model. As to why they flicker, there are several factors involved, however it almost always has something to do with the power supply (driver or transformer). The flickering problem is very common when users attempt to retrofit LED globes to existing fittings and use existing electronic transformers to run them. This is almost never a good idea. What transformer do you recommend? I'm thinking of getting the Tridonic Viper to run on the HPM 450P push button dimmers. Re: LED downlights with dimmer dial question? 10Jun 12, 2013 10:06 am I am not sure whether the 450P has been upgraded but I have not seen it run on any LED products. Re: LED downlights with dimmer dial question? 11Jan 05, 2014 4:11 pm We definitely do not recommend a transformer to run an LED especially if they are to be dimmed. We always recommend to upgrade existing transformers to Drivers (dimmable in this case) and using the correct LED globes (also must be dimmable) otherwise the flickering will constantly re-occur. We do suggest upgrading the fittings/Lights to Dimmable versions, and you should always check if the lights are in fact dimmable before securing any purchase. if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask us. The Bright greens are almost double the price, but in comparison, doesn't show a lot extra. My advice would be to try both if you are tossing up between the two, and do a bench test of the two. If you feel the brightgreen is worth the extra cost, then go for them, however I feel you will be happy with the Ecostar, and they usually retail for about $65 each inc GST, so definitely cost effective for a high end light.
