Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 05, 2013 4:08 pm Hello, This is my first post in here so excuse me if I have posted in the wrong section. My husband and I are building a house. We have chosen our tiles, benchtops, cupboards etc and we now need to choose our paint colour for the interior (aside from feature walls as these can be done once tiling is completed) We really need help with the white to use in the home - we have gloss white polytec kitchen cupboards, Laminex Antarctic Stone diamondgloss benchtops, underneath the island bench on the side where the bar stools are underneath is a feature colour polytec carbon micro gloss, the splashback will be tiled in a similar colour to the carbon micro gloss but slightly lighter. The floor tiles are 600 x 600 and are a semi gloss. I will upload a photo of all the samples shortly. The paint we need to use is Dulux. We dont want a yellow white but want something that is neutral and modern but has a warm feeling, dont want it to feel clinical or stark. Would like to avoid Antique White USA and Stowe White as I feel they will be a little yellow against the kitchen. Some colours that we were tossing around were Duck White, Natural White, Lexicon. Our window frames are anodised silver. Please can you help with some ideas and if you have any pictures that would be great. We need to let the painter know tomorrow what we have decided. We would like the ceiling and skirting, window frames etc to be a lighter colour than the walls. We like grey tones and brown tones but not sure what will go best with the cupboards, benchtops etc we have already chosen HELP!! Re: Urgent Help Needed - Colours 2Jun 06, 2013 8:09 pm Tweety How did you go with colour? We used Limed White (Dulux) half strength and it has the grey/brown tones. The quater strength is quite light. Lexicon is more of a grey ton e as the tiny is a straight black where as many of the other ceing whites have the ochre in it.. We started to use Lexicon quarter on our ceilings but it was very grey/blue to me on the roof. Might look different on vertical surface though. It all makes a difference. We ended up with Taunmans Big White double strength to colour match to our downright surrounds. Anyway, it's a hard decision but thankfully it can be changed quite inexpensively unlike bricks and tiles. Re: Urgent Help Needed - Colours 3Jun 12, 2013 2:56 pm Hi Vess, it is so hard isnt it. We have painted 8 different samples and its come between lime white quarter and natural white. We felt the same way about Lexicon. Im just not sure whag will go best with our floor tiles but Im leaning toward the lkme white quarter it feels warm compared to some of the other samples we did Re: Urgent Help Needed - Colours 4Jun 12, 2013 2:56 pm Hi Vess, it is so hard isnt it.
