We had an April start date quoted when we signed up oct 2012 it is now June & still no start, we do have red pegs as of 12 working days ago so should be soon. There was zero hold up for us client end & ours was even faster than most as no bank paperwork involved & council took the normal allowed time that was even quoted by EB. The only hold up has been EB own internal admin being very slow for whatever reason you wish to blame, under staffed etc. We even made the effort to explain to EB the problems that delaying site start will cause 10 weeks ago & were told management will try to speed there own admin up. So far they haven't been even able to do anything one day quicker than the max time frame schedule they supplied us when I complained 10 weeks ago. So until EB actually start work for slab don't believe one word they say about site start. Very frustrating. EB also suggested we extend our contract start date by one month (at a cost to us) as they needed the 3 months for paperwork. We were ready to go by the original Contract start date (Feb), so I feel as though we bought THEM time as despite our site being pegged early feb with a contract start date of 11 March (20 days from pegout), we didn't get our slab till APRIL... I hope you see some action on your site soon, it is frustrating, I've tried to detach myself from the whole build to avoid disappointment with timeframes etc.... so when something happens it's a pleasant surprise.. sad I know lol...It will happen.... eventually... On a more positive note though I can't fault the quality of the workmanship so far. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5450Jun 04, 2013 5:58 pm Cody Drysdale ::cheerleader:: Some progress for us! Apparently we're not going through Council, but through CDC, and our CSO estimates everything should be approved by June 14. Stephen spoke to her today and she cleared up a few things for us. Land settles tomorrow too. It's so nice to have something happening Great to hear Cody - so pleased something is happening for you - I hope we are only a month behind you. Here again today we receive a phone call from broker re the bank valuer is requesting a document from EB - stating final price of building cost i.e. listing the price with all PCV's included. Simple - this is the stupid reply from our CS "I can provide this however it could change. Due to Pcvs that you will get from electrical, tiles and carpet" We had our colour, electrical selections finalised in March - every of the above has a signed PCV send to us by the CS and returned the same day - all finalised by the beginning of May - even listed on EB webpage. I wanted to phone our CS but my hubby wouldn't let me - OK I might have lost it with her but I would have felt good - he did send a very strongly worded email - he wants his audit trail - this is so frustrating and makes you have no faith in EB Building Lawson 24 +2 Pegged 9/8/13 Slabbed 18/9/13 Frame 16/10/13 Roof 21/10/13 Bricks 5/11/13 Linings 28/11/13 Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5452Jun 04, 2013 7:31 pm ohmistershefield25 Thanks Riverside. There's no way DH will let me get the raised ceilings, I've already got away with enough upgrades. We have the entry has increased height. zRoYz, have you been charged by EB as a result of the delay ? Hi! We initially upgraded our ceilings to 2590, but because my husband wanted the extra height in the garage we had to upgrade again to 2700 so we could have 2400 high garage doors. I don't have my paperwork with me at present, but it was about $7500-a lot of money, so we went through display homes with a tape measure to see if 11cm is worth $3000!!! We decided it was. Funnily, it does make a difference to the feeling of space in the house. Our current house has extremely high ceilings, so we are used to them as well. My husband didn't want to pay extra for waterfall edges etc (I wanted them, but restrained myself!!!), but funnily, the two things he suggested were the 2700 ceilings and undermount sink in the kitchen. We built your estate and the one across the road Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5456Jun 04, 2013 7:49 pm ohmistershefield25 zRoYz, have you been charged by EB as a result of the delay ? That is the kicker, they didn't dare charge us for delay because EB was fully aware all the delay has been them so how could they charge us more. EB even raised a variation for us to extend site start date till June so they couldn't charge us more. The sad thing is there advertising more or less boosts this won't happen & my main complaint was if EB sales & tender staff can't forecast a start date which when they do so allow the max known council time frames etc, then how is a client able to plan. There are circumstances when it's not EB fault like client hold ups due to last minute changes & bank hold ups but my client side was approval next day after receiving anything & no last minute changes. Now for a little humour on the EB admin & an example of why they tend to need so much time. We are paying cash so instead of bank letter with a loan we have to place 10% (security deposit) in a joint investment bank account with EB. We still receive the interest but to withdraw the money it needs EB & my signatures. Now to set up a bank account you need forms from the bank so EB sent me forms with there details completed & I had to fill in mine sign it & send back to EB. EB directors who's details were already on forms just signed them & then forms sent back to me & then I had to open account with those forms. Now I'm a tradesman not an office guru but honestly why didn't EB just send me the forms already signed & then I sign & go straight to bank, I mean it's my money going into account so zero risk to EB yet the forms had to be posted back by me & then back again by EB, what for? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5457Jun 04, 2013 7:52 pm For those discussing wait times - My start date was July and they started in December. Its so frustrating. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5458Jun 04, 2013 8:09 pm Dearheart For those discussing wait times - My start date was July and they started in December. Its so frustrating. Why such a big difference - was it EB's fault or other things that caused such a delay?
