Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 29, 2013 2:02 pm Okay, so DH and I have had a discussion about this, and now we want to hear your opinions. I was always under the impression we'd get our house number on the actual house, but apparently, according to DH, it only goes on the letterbox. What is the done thing? For a bit of background, our current rental has a number on the letterbox and two on the house, but people still miss it! But to be fair, it's a tiny street and there are a lot of bushes and trees around. Our new house is in a bigger street with less tress, and I guess the letterbox might suffice. But I'm not sure. What do you guys think? (poll) 3May 29, 2013 3:14 pm I would put 1 on the letterbox and 1 on the pillar near the front entry door. Re: House numbers - on the house? (poll) 4May 29, 2013 3:15 pm I think it depends a lot on how far the house is setback from the street. Lovely terrace houses and little victorian cottages look great with the number on the house but I think if you have a 6m setback it may look out of place. Doesn't really matter though, just a personal taste thing I think. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: House numbers - on the house? (poll) 5May 29, 2013 3:51 pm One on the letterbox and one painted on the gutter (because thats where the ambo's & cops look to see where they need to be!). The ones on the house are just for decoration and half the time you cant see them from the road anyways. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. I also like the look of having a numeral on the letterbox and the number in letters on the house (if you have sufficient space). I would really appreciate if if you can complete the poll about windows, if you have a story I would love to hear it.
