According to iinet Telstra is privileged to viewing if houses are connected before it's updated on the nbnco website. Best chance is to call them.

Eeep, looks like Constable isn't listed as yet. I checked random addresses in Simony and all come up fine though.

How odd that a couple of streets are available, but not others. I dont know the street numbers of Cob road to check.

Well, I'm at 26 Cob Road and the map shows coverage up to Constable Street. Not sure anything past that would be available yet.

Got some more information back about addresses. Looks like their portal has been updated with the addresses.

I feel pretty bad about shooting my mouth off, but Daed call up an ISP and make an enquiry about getting an install. give them this number and confirm its your address

Wow Bleh i think it worked! ? I am on phone with iinet now and placing the order, the LOC ID number worked and he says its serviceable!!! Woo dont want to get too excited but i think its happening haha. Thanks a tonne, will confirm once order has cleared and a installation date set

See! I finally deliver... Hope its soon, I went out to my place last night and the Optical light on the NTD is on, which to me means the fibre in the street is lit up and should be good to rock out.

THanks - I got an install date from iinet for the 11th of June, we dont have an NBN box yet though so not sure how that works...

Thats not too bad, pretty standard. So on the 11th is when they come out and do all the installation of the gear. Something by the meter box, and if you have smart wiring the box should go next to that.

Is it necessary for us to have the NBN box installed before iinet can do their thing? The guy I spoke to on the phone was very helpful but unfortunately wasnt too knowledgable on the technical details, sorry to pick your brains haha

Nope, it goes hand in hand actually. So NBN wont do anything unless and ISP place an order. Which you now have.

1) Order by iiNet, tells the NBN to get out there and do the install. Drilling, pulling the fibre through conduit etc.
2) At the same time, they will setup an account for you and once the NBN has done their bit on the 11th, they will turn it on and start billing from that date.

Sit back and wait but have a think about getting everything ready for when the internet arrives. For example we spent $4000 on smart wiring but that doesnt include a $80 switch to make every data port in the house connected to the internet.

Did you have data/Ethernet ports in your house already?

I dont have any data points in the house at the moment, but i have plenty of conduit which i will run some cat6e through. i only want 4 points in the house really.

i am assuming these points can be plugged straight into my router

Yup its true, remember. You will need to connect the router to the NBN box, so one of the sockets on the router will be in use by that, so with most routers that would leave you with 3 usable sockets. Have a think about where the NBN box will go, as once its installed its there and cant be moved. This is the place where the router will go as well.
