Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 17, 2013 8:17 am Hi all. Can anyone give advice on the most economical options to landscape our block. We need it to be just enough to move in to then we'll as to it as we can afford. Already stretched the budget too far. Also we are unable to any of the labour ourselves as I have a disability. Might be able to get a hand from some mates with laying turf though etc. I've added some photos of the plans I did on google sketchup. The decking under the portico is included in our build aswell as the pool and driveway/front portico. The grey area around the pool needs to be landscaped also, its just the coping that's included in our build costs. Re: Landscaping Advice 2May 17, 2013 7:48 pm Hi mate, I'm in a very similar situation. We had have gone over our budget and are now looking to cut back on the landscaping. What im thinking of doing is only getting the a landscaper to put on topsoil and level it out. I reckon that is the hardest bit and not something i want to stuff up. After that I was going to put in the irrigation myself and then roll the turf out too. Once the turfing is done I was going to take a bit of time to plan the garden but I would like to put in some raised veggie beds somewhere. Ive got about 270 square meters to do so it will take a few days. Hopefully I can save a bit of coin and then gradually add some extra garden beds and plants over time. I look forward to hearing other people's suggestions too. Good job on sketchup, it gives a great feel for what the house will end up like ay. cheers pd Re: Landscaping Advice 3May 17, 2013 10:46 pm People are often surprised at how much landscaping they can actually achieve themselves. A bit of guidance and some elbow grease goes a long way. Re: Landscaping Advice 4May 23, 2013 9:55 am I would lay the turf to start with (with soil prep as per Fu's instructions - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=43570) and then slowly add plants/features as time goes on. Tube stock are your best bet for most native plants, and they are cheap too. Re: Landscaping Advice 5May 24, 2013 7:48 am Shredded turf instead of roll on will save you $ though it will naturally tak e longer to establish.get someone in to do the ground work then find a company to lay the shredded turf or buy some rolls and cut them up into smaller pieces and stagger where you plant them. They'll eventually join together. 2 Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 5585 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 31771 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 10309 |
