One thing I've learnt for myself and also resale value is storage, storage, storage and OHHHH did I mention storage? Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 9May 22, 2013 4:03 pm Yeah, planning on 3 babies (lookout JC haha) and there will probably be a home business in the future so theyre all the elements that ticked the boxes for us. Would sacrifice the double shower, and the wardrobe. Hmm work isnt very productive today *looks down at notepad that should be covered in words but is covered in doodles of bathrooms* Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 10May 22, 2013 4:20 pm Oh no, you're a lost cause already haha. Just watch out you don't lose your job, the bank won't be happy. What's your budget like, will it allow you to pull out by 1m, say 1/2 metre at front and 1/2 at back and then put all that area into the WIR and ensuite? I reckon you could then work it in easily. Have a look at my ensuite layout and turn it around so you'd be looking at the vanity when you walk in the door. You also would get that all important storage in the WIR. If you're planning on 3 kids PLEASE get a linen cupboard in activity or wherever else you can fit it in. Kids are the start of storage issues lol. Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 11May 22, 2013 5:06 pm Welcome to the forum I totally agree with Serialbuilder about the storage - it is essential!! Are you set on having a double door and wide entry? You could make that narrower make your bedroom wider, this would allow you to make the ensuite wide enough for the double shower, double vanity & closed in toilet and also give you room to add a long narrow walk in robe behind the bed. Naughty! Just got an email back from VampHire advising of all the paint colours for the Madison, yay! And in the same heartbeat a call from Goodlife to book in our signup time, and our meeting with their broker. Exciting day! Does the Bravo come with the Portico like the Madison, or do you have to add that does anyone know? Also, is there enough room in the Laundry to add a bench/more storage? Does look like much benchspace/storage in there? Having a look at your plan now Serialbuilder – love it! Your house rocks! Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 13May 22, 2013 5:17 pm posting to follow. Will come back and read once kids are in bed Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 14May 22, 2013 5:20 pm Hey JC welcome to the forum and to Gemmill Have a look at my plans, they should be on my thread first post. Our ensuite sort of fits what you're after, but we couldnt add a door to it as there was no space, plan on a sliding door in the future, but for now a curtain on a tension rod is doing just fine! save you the trouble of digging through old threads, here it is viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55884 Oct 10 - Council Approval Oct 23 - Site scrape Oct 29 - Footings and Prelay OCT 30 - Slabbed Nov 6 - Bricks Delivered Nov 13 - Brickwork started Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 15May 22, 2013 5:49 pm Hi Daedalus, thanks! Yes thats pretty much exactly what were after, will have to get JC all over it with a tape measure tonight. This forum is like heaven! Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 16May 22, 2013 5:50 pm jcbissor Does the Bravo come with the Portico like the Madison, or do you have to add that does anyone know? Looking at the floor plan, I don't think it has a portico like the Madison. The Madison plan has "portico" written on it whereas the Bravo just has porch. Also there is no pillars, etc showing on the Bravo plan. The porch on the Bravo will probably look more like the Sienna display home. I can't see any reason why you couldn't add a portico to it though. This would be considered a structural change and would need to be done early on before the plans are submitted to council. Extending out under the eaves for the WIR like Daedalus has done is a great idea This should give you enough space to put a long narrow WIR behind the bed without loosing too much room space and will make the ensuite quite spacious. JC will be heartbroken! I wonder how much it would cost, adding it to the list of Q's. If we extend out under the eves (this might be a really stupid question - please forgive me ) does it affect the amount of side access we would be able to have next to the house? We have an 18m frontage block, and the Bravo is 12/13m wide I was told today... Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 18May 22, 2013 6:19 pm There's no such thing as a stupid question! The roof line of the house will stay the same, you are just pushing the wall out under the eave overhanging bit. The house is getting wider, but you won't need a wider block. Does that make any sense at all?? I don't really know how to explain it lol It's a way to get a little bit of extra width out of the house without actually making the frontage wider. I have an hour drive home now where i get to be passenger and clutch my phone till battery death and "uh huh" and "mm hmm" responses while I troll through more posts, tehehehe. Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife Bravo Build Thread - Mandurah 20May 22, 2013 9:46 pm Great explanation SB. One thing to consider if you do go out under the eaves you may have trouble with the energy rating, depending on where that wall is facing. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10970 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely! We bought one for less than a quarter of that price off eBay.
