Personally, unless you have gorgeous timber windows to look at, I prefer to have some form of window dressing. I find it also helps to block out the light and heat in summer or on west facing windows and keep the heat in in winter. The initial shock we got - after not raising our needs with the builder - was to find we had clear glass in the ensuite toilet .... You can install these yourself with a squeegee and a spray bottle.
