Get a local landscaper and you should still save $2,000 The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Advise on DIY landscaping please 3May 20, 2013 12:31 pm Hi, Yes i suggest considering doing it yourself, or at least elements of it. The easiest way to see what sort of saving you will have is to contact a local landscape supply yard or building yard and price just the materials element of these prices, that will allow you to establish the labour cost of each element. All the best. Theyve done really good job. If you dont mind me asking how much did it costs you. Many thanks. hfwangoz Thanks guys, your suggestions encourage me a lot to DIY:) Much appreciate. Regards, Hao Re: Advise on DIY landscaping please 7May 23, 2013 1:30 pm DIY will be by far the cheapest option but not the quickest. I agree with previous post from catbrad regarding Bob Cat cash jobs. I did the same thing for the big work on my landscaping otherwise I would still be digging today! There are a few esential tools will need to purchase as previously mentioned - barrow, shovels, stringline, spirit level etc. Think about you overall plan then break it into smaller tasks. Once you start planning you will soon realise what things need to be done and in what order. ie: I have left the path down the narrow side of my house until last as I use it to transport all of my materials in and out of my back yard (Which is still a work in progress) but I have completed the retaining wall down the narrow side of the house because I didnt want my next door neighbours yard falling into mind after heavy rain. If you work full time and go the weekend DIY route (like me) then expect things to be done slowly. The weather can delay a weekend warrior no end. Good luck with route you choose to take. Take plenty of pics and dont be afraid to ask questions, that's what the forum is here for.
