Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 26, 2007 1:03 pm I intend to replace the 30 year old mirror in my ensuite. It seems to me that the existing frameless mirror is glued to the wall (probably of fibro-cement sheeting). It has been suggested that I use a length of wire to pass behind the mirror and cut through the adhesion. Any comments/hints would be appreciated e.g. what type of wire, safety aspects, how do I easily remove residual glue Thanks. Re: Wall mirror in ensuite 2May 28, 2007 1:42 pm Michael, I've only tried to do this once with a newly installed mirror - without success.
There are various 'wires' to try including a coated cutting wire but I would be inclined to first speak to a glass/mirror mob to get some first hand tips. Being such an age the glass is going to be very brittle & easy to crack. Peter Clarkson - AusDesign Australia www.ausdesign.com.au This information is intended to provide general information only. It turned out that the mirror was not glued in its entireity - it was held onto the wall by adhesive strips. The cuttting wire was successfull. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Ditto 3M Claw, expensive but best thing I've used to date. I put two of the 11kg ones in for a 12kg mirror on the wall, and its been great for 4 years now. 4 5059 1 1218 |
