Or is it only a few days later or something? I'm going to take my most up to date wish list on the day and hope everything we select is close to this document! Sorry, I just realised you PM'd me too, I will respond to that!! Yes, you get a document on the day with every single selection for your colours. You also get most prices - the only prices we didn't get was bricks (very common but we were told to allow $1k per category upgrade), frosted glass pricing for the sidelights next to the front door and pricing for extending the 'drop' of the overhead cupboards so you don't open them with a handle but open them from underneath? This was because Hopetoun didn't have our final plans. Re: Porter Davis homes 7290May 15, 2013 4:35 pm Hi All Those that have done colours - do they give you an indication of the cost? We have incorporated the essa stone in the tender (so we had an idea) but what about vinyl wrap v silk v crystal gloss finishes to the doors. Do they tell you roughly or exactly? After reading my Hopetoun apt letter, I find it strange that they say "colours will need to be finalised" however, from my understanding, they don't give you prices until contract. What happens if you cant afford the options you have chosen? Same for electricals? What happens if you cant afford the options you have chosen? Same for electricals? Hi ajd78 - we had to wait ages and ages till we got a price on upgrading the kitchen (like months - started asking for a price in Dec and didn't get the price till March!!!!) - actually we didn't get the price until we demanded all the costs before we made our contract appointment. We are building the Drysdale and have included the cupboard above the fridge cavity: Price of upgrading the kitchen cupboard doors to the Laminex Colourtech Colonial Square in the Satin $6,904 Upgrading the kitchen cupboard doors to the Gloss Door Profile - same price as Satin$6,904 Upgrading the kitchen cupboard doors to the Colonial Square - Profile to doors are included in price We decided not to go with the gloss or satin finish. We are having profiled doors - Shaker - and there is not charge for the profile - you just pay more if you want a different finish on the doors so we are not paying any thing extra - the profile is considered standard. Hope that helps you with an approximate price... You do get approximate prices at your colours appointment - we found that the prices were either spot on or they quoted more at the colours than what it ended up being at contract. Your SC and/or BC should be able to provide you with all of your prices for your upgrades. Just keep asking for the prices - send emails every week till you get your information. Don't forget to check out the cost and upgrades thread on here too for PD. BTW - The doc we got to bring home from our colours appointment did list some prices of some of the upgrades (like taps and doors so you do have a fairly good general idea of the prices at the appointment) Re: Porter Davis homes 7292May 15, 2013 5:24 pm ftdt7882 MummaDJ My hubby also had a headache, stuffy and no air flow in there! We definitely were given the itemised account - the one we signed on the day. If you need help with prices, I have listed some on my blog under electrical tab or ask any other questions. All in all though, yes you should get a copy. I had a doozy of a headache. I went home, took more pain killers and had a 2 hour sleep afterwards!! Thanks, I think I remember seeing that list! I have also emailed my BC asking for an itemised copy. It really is unacceptable that we weren't given it! Headaches here too on the day - both Hubby and myself. It also didn't help that they had music playing in the electrical room so it made it really hard to concentrate with music, another appointment in the same room and headaches. We were given an itemised list on the day, but there were not prices on it apart from the total. Re: Porter Davis homes 7293May 15, 2013 5:31 pm meowsy ftd, on selection day, do you get an outline at the end of the appointment with all the selections? Or is it only a few days later or something? I'm going to take my most up to date wish list on the day and hope everything we select is close to this document! You do get to take home a doc with everything you've chosen at your colours appointment (ours was 8 pages long). And there are prices on it at the end for the items you've upgraded (like the taps and doors) Take along all that you need to - including pictures of styles you like (pinterest is a great place to get lots of ideas ) and show your consultant pictures - just helps you to be on the same page then. When is your colours appointment? Re: Porter Davis homes 7294May 15, 2013 6:00 pm Yikes to the cost of the gloss!!! I will have to look up profiles or maybe deselect the colour of the bench to a cat 1... Wow. I wonder if vinyl wrap is cheaper. I hope so! Our colour apt is next week and I have already selected everything - so hopefully that will make it easier! (ie no headaches). Except for cost headaches that is! haha Thanks for your cost help. Is anyone doing a knock down rebuild? I think it adds a whole other level of stress to have to organise demolition as well Re: Porter Davis homes 7295May 15, 2013 6:27 pm ajd78 Is anyone doing a knock down rebuild? I think it adds a whole other level of stress to have to organise demolition as well Hi Ajd78, We are also doing a knockdown rebuild and I totally agree, its totally another whole level of stress. I've been having issues moreso due to fencing, my old block had brick fences that were in quite bad shape so I've had to contact the neighbours, demolish the brick fences and concrete foundation and now I'm scrambling to get fencing quotes! Specifically on the demolition though, we used Gravity Demolition and they were spectacular. Professional, prompt and quick to respond with queries. They can cap water but unfortunately won't do capping of waste so I had to engage a plumber for that. Then add that you have to apply for an asset protection permit from the council, temporary fencing, abolishment of services, installation of an electrical pit potentially..........its certainly very draining! Re: Porter Davis homes 7296May 15, 2013 6:28 pm We had our colour and electrical today. Headaches all round awful music does not help! Can I suggest to Anyone going to colours/electrically CONFIRM that hopetoun have the CORRECT plans BEFORE they go there. We had tender two weeks ago and already put back our appointments so that we could make sure that they had our plans to work from. So we talk in today " sorry we don't have your plans but we can mock some up". Not good enough! We already had two separate tenders because of PD issues and left two week so the plans would be there. Not to mention i had to pay for someone else to cover me for the day. After a good 10 minutes on the phone during which time our BC could not be found then her supervisor could not be found, waiting some more, then told she was with a client but would pop out to speak to us, i was ready to just cut my losses. She promised to find out and get back to us. A few minutes later the plans were available, it seems that the draftsman did not publish it(?). So then another 20 minutes while they did whatever they have to do to get the plans so they can be worked on. Why this is important. We moved walls and changed from a lounge to a guest suite, deleted a bedroom and changed the ensuite layout and added walls. As we deleted a bed room it is important they get the plans because it gives us a double PowerPoint, switch and battern that can be credited back or used somewhere else. The guest suite cost includes a power point, switch, battern. We added an enclosed WC to the ensuite, cost includes a light and switch. We may have ended up paying for them again as they were added to the mock up as they were not on the inclusions list on the standard plan. Whilst I am told that they would compare what we chose with the plans, in our case a service duct had been moved to where we wanted powerpoints and cavity sliders meant we could not use a wall for switches, another duct meant we could not have the dustpan for the vac where we wanted it either. Given that you " cannot change anything" 48hours after signing I assume the electrical lady would have made these changes onto the plan wherever she felt best. When would we see these changes? When we would we be asked to sign off on this? Ummm no you have already signed for the electrical. You would have to take it up with your BC Just be aware people Sorry, end rant here Re: Porter Davis homes 7297May 15, 2013 7:19 pm That sounds terrible back pocket! I have a feeling we will have the same problem. We haven't even signed our tender - due to issues with the appointment but demanded we keep our tile and colour appointment because the problems at tender were not our fault. So, if fairness to PD, they have kept the apt but hope it doesn't cause problems. I have tried for 2 days to contact my BC and haven't had a call back.. Tiles could be interesting on Friday! Serenity_Now, we were recommended to use Gravity demolition, but they were a lot more expensive than who we chose. I am assuming you are out in the SE then. Who did you hire the fence from? I am up to that now.. Ah, the process! Re: Porter Davis homes 7298May 15, 2013 7:30 pm inglewood and ftd, ah ok thanks. That's good to know. Inglewood, our appointment is next week. We have been into Hopetoun numerous times already, and it was encouraging that the designers have validated my choices all together when I have showed them. (I have been quite proactive in that I have been looking at samples of wall colour, flooring, laminex etc etc for weeks and weeks now. We've even decided on skirting, splashback, front door etc.) When I explain the kind of furniture we have, and show them the samples we have chosen, they confirm I am on the right track, which is reassuring. BackPocket, that is not good. Not off to a good start with the selection appointment then. I would have been having conniptions. I will learn from your misfortune and email Hopetoun to check next week. Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Porter Davis homes 7299May 15, 2013 8:23 pm Finally put up our upgrade costs on the costs thread Good luck Meowsy for next week. Don't upgrade your cupboard handles - do that after change over - it's much cheaper to buy them on ebay or from overseas (I've seen some lovely ones in America that even with the $$$ shipping will still come in less than what PD have). Looking forward to seeing your choices. Backpocket and ajd78 - what a pain! We couldn't attend our contract on the scheduled date and so refused to make a contract date until the information we wanted was provided. We're still sorting out a few mistakes made in our contract and our contract appointment was almost one month ago - but we're not in a rush b/c our land hasn't settled yet and we're not signing the contract till we are happy with it.
