How can they be a different price? This is what annoys me! no price transparency... Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 152May 15, 2013 6:43 pm Thank you all. My sink was the blanco U2 and we were charged $311. Finally found it Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 153May 15, 2013 7:34 pm ajd that is really helpful. I'm after Cat 1 essastone in bathroom and ensuite, but hoping as we are building an Access home it will be a bit less than that, being smaller bathrooms. We will do that after handover. Ebay is by far cheaper than PD (I'm considering ordering some from the US even with $$$ postage it will be cheaper than the upgrades PD is offering and there are some really really nice ones overseas) - if you go this route, then be sure to measure the handles - or just don't have them fitted and do it all after handover - IKEA sell a template for measuring handle placement. We are having a power point put inside each of the vanities - handy for chargeable toothbrushes and shavers... gets them off the bench. I don't have the costs for the electrical items on me atm, but they were the same as others already on here. Hope it helps! Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 155May 15, 2013 9:11 pm Hi Inglewood, Thanks for those. SOme of those costs are the same we have been given - Slab upgrade espec. I am still shocked at the colourtech upgrade Just two quick questions; 1. How many windows does the double glazing cost cover? 2. What is the upgrade of heating system you have? Thanks Meowsy, our SC suggested we allow $400 per sq m for the Essastone.. It is very expensive! Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 156May 15, 2013 9:38 pm For those doing Electricals - a little point, don't forget doorbell. Hi ajd - just to add re heating upgrade, we upgraded ours to the Hx35i - $1886 (Therefore 2 models up from standard - I believe). Information about the different units is on this website - http://www.brivis.com.au We plan to be in our house for a very long time so feel that the savings in the high efficiency heater will be better in the long run. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 158May 15, 2013 10:11 pm Inglewood, I would check a few things, first thing our bushfire levy was reduced from $5,000 to just over $3000 because we went with colorbond roof. You don't need the sarking required for a tile roof with a colorbond roof so costs should be reduced. We were quoted by PD for the crystal gloss cabinets for a the wall of cabinets but not the island bench $3600, this didn't seem right and when I asked PD if they had quoted for the whole kitchen they checked and confirmed it was only for the one wall. They then put in the tender contract the $3600 price and added that this was only for the one wall. This did not seem right to me so I took the plans and measurements into the Laminex showroom and they provided me with the costs at $988!!!!! I then went back to PD with this and asked for an explanation why they had over tripled the price? They come back with it must of been a mistake and we calculated it for the whole kitchen! That was not true as the guy checked and confirmed it was only for one wall. If I was you I would check the prices with Laminex as to the costs for the product through them. Slab was the same quoted $15,600 because we needed waffle slab with piers, noticed every other house being built in the estate didn't need piers, slab price was reduced by over $4,000 and no longer needed piers??? Hmmmmm very interesting. I'm not worried about the kitchen b/c I only wanted the profile, but they quoted the gloss. That is a shocking amount to up the price! Our bush fire levy does take into account the colourbond roof, must just depend on the area, we have a lot of state forest near by so it would be a high fire prone area. Do you have the screw piles? We need them due to large trees at the back of our block - my brother had all sorts of trouble with tree roots messing with his house and causing the slab to drop and raise so we'd rather have them and not go through the headaches he did with getting things fixed after only being in in his house only a couple of years (he had plaster, brickwork, doors, architrave/skirtings, you name it needing to be fixed b/c the builder didn't take into account the large trees bordering his property) So although we'd rather not have to pay the extra $5000 + we will bc we plan to stay in this house for a very long time and don't want any problems. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 160May 16, 2013 12:22 pm inglewood Hope it helps! I could kiss you! Thank you so much - it really really helps my planning! (I'm in the middle of the starting-quote process for the Marina41, and guessimating at how much my colours and upgrades might come to.) Anyone got info on the brick upgrades for a double story now they've switched to Austral? I'm not too worried - I was going to get a cat6 Boral since I disliked all the other options but in the new choices, I have a cat 2 and a cat 3 on the short list instead. HD Land settled May '14.
