This doesn't include 40mm Caesarstone benchtops though - we ran out of money It is rather quiet with new M3tric0n threads - I think everyone has gone to EB! Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 103May 14, 2013 4:43 pm candyapple It seems as though the last post to this thread was some time ago. I hope that's not a sign that not many people are building with M3tric0n these days!! I was wondering if there was anyone out there in Sydney who has recent information on upgrade prices for M3tric0n? In particular i'm interested in upgrading the standard 20mm ceasarst0ne benchtop to the 40mm and 2-pac cupboards to the kitchen. My husband and I have fallen in love with the Soho and are starting to put together numbers now that we have sold our house and these two upgrades are on my 'essential' list. TIA the quoting process is quite good, salesman can do you a full quote on absolutely everything you can think of before you sign anything. We added about 100k of stuff at this first stage, and then ripped it all back for the prelim contract then ripped it back again for final contract. They also organise studio m tours, so you can go in, find our there suppliers and what the included range actually looks like, the people who show you around should have an idea of how much things cost etc. Myself, Red Jezz, Miss Mia and yoda are all building with M in SA, not seen many other threads for other states recently though Initial Deposit 28/09/2012 // Prelim Contract Signed 25/11/2012 Selections 21/1/2013 to 23/1/2013 // Contract Signed 22/2/2013 Site Start 21/5/2013 // Slabbed 30/5/2013 Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 104Jun 04, 2013 8:13 am Window preparation product from Beamont tiles: some time ago whilst looking through Big M forums I read a few comments about a product that was used by some to prepare windows. Basically the product kept windows clean for longer, maybe even a film. Cant find the details of the product any longer. Can anyone help me here. Has anyone used it, I think it was purchased from Beaumont tiles???? Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 105Jun 21, 2013 2:50 pm Thanks for your help everyone. Hubby and I have decided to go with Metr!con, have paid our deposit and have our tender appointment in the second week of July (looking forward to seeing our customised plans!). We went and had a look at Studio M in Baulkham Hills and were quite disappointed with the "showroom". The showroom consisted of a small office with not much variety in the products that were on display and no price list for upgrading. Ask them for a Studio M book, it has all the 'standard' products then shows the upgrades. The prices are on the showroom pieces (they were when we went in January). Don't forget you can also choose things that they don't have in the book as upgrades, i.e they quoted us $1200 extra for an undermount sink with a drainer. We found one from Reece for $850 and they were quite happy to source it for us. We also chose a cast iron bath which also isn't offered even as an upgrade. We have had our tender appointment and finally received our sample pack with info on inclusions etc. Out of curiosity, were there any charges associated with them sourcing products for you? There are quite a few items I would like to change (toilet, bath, kitchen sink and oven) but not sure how it all works. Do they charge you the RRP for the new item or do you have the item you want to replace credited and then you pay the difference for the new item? Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 108Sep 12, 2013 1:58 am just a question. How do I know what the standards are like? Since all the display homes are fitted with upgrades of the upgrades. I cant see one piece of standard stuff. Is there a book I can ask for to see all the STANDARD fittings and materials for construction (kitchen/bath/cupboards/light/switches/everything)? They display the STANDARDS of everything in Studio M? (ps: I am in Brisbane.) Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 109Sep 12, 2013 9:02 am Go for a walk through of Studio M the consultant will talk you through the standards and the usual upgrades etc, we did it before signing and had full confidence in all of the standards because of it Most stuff is in there like paint, brickes, roofing, handles, windows, tapware etc Generally M will have a display home with more of the "standard" inclusions as well email your consultant and ask if they can suggest a display to go look at, they might even want to walk you through to explain to you the different products/ranges Siteworks 8/11 Slabbed 19/11 Our Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65703 Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 110Sep 12, 2013 1:34 pm candyapple Novice8 candyapple Thanks for your help everyone. I'm assuming you're completely past the Studio M appt now? If not, no they don't charge extra for the new item (they didn't with us anyway), I'm assuming it's because they don't pay the RRP anyway, plus they get to keep the cost of whatever item they were going to install as standard (no credit for the difference). Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 111Mar 13, 2014 4:27 pm Perfect thread, this is exactly what i've been looking for. Trying to get this information from M is remarkably difficult. I have a few other cost estimate questions if anyone can help: 1) Increasing the height of the ceiling from 2.4 to 2.8? Upstairs and downstairs? 2) Wooden walk in wardrobes such as in show homes? 3) Stainless/Glass staircase? 4) Typical costs per bathroom for floor to ceiling tiling? 5) Extra wide front door 6) Wider internal doors 7) Shadowline ceilings Continuation of kitchen cabinets to the AV living area 9) Hardwood flooring downstairs Thanks for all the help. Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 112Mar 13, 2014 7:27 pm These prices are close and will give you some idea: 2700 ceiling in lieu of standard was $2100 downstairs (35sq home) 2550 upstairs in lieu of standard was $1606; Continuation of kitchen cabinets to lounge was $3500 - $4500. Extra wide front door was $1500 (from memory) Stainless glass staircase with hardwood treads was $5000 (from memory) Floor to ceiling tiles ($300 - $500) per wall M doesn't do hardwood floors but you can do them post handover; however you may be left to do the skirtings yourselves. We went with bamboo which are thick and feel like a hardwood floor underfoot Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 114Jun 05, 2014 10:05 am Just thought I would add some prices as at 2014 as this thread is abit old. Re: Big M / Metr!con Homes: - Studio M & Upgrade Prices! 120Jun 20, 2017 9:38 am Hi All Been over 1 year since anything on this topic it is very informative thread. We are just starting going through the motions with metricom building in south east Brisbane. Would like to ask how Studio M tile upgrade package works want to up grade to 600x600 have tile std package in contract how does the $40 sqm upgrade price work out. Or is it best to do living areas after hand over have found same tiles half that price. Thank you I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings. There is no benefit in keeping it… 1 4106 Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9961 How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents?
