Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Exterior Colours 22Sep 04, 2008 10:18 pm We nearly forgot about children too and he lives with us.....just kidding.
Alot of the things I mentioned were based on the fact that we have a 7 month old and the ideas we are going through at the moment are based around him. But alot of decisions are for us also, but ........we have remembered for his sake... that my hubby is completely OCD AND AR and with this house we are about to build there is no way he would let the little guy into his theatre room and we defineately will not get use out of the theatre room like we used to when it was a child free house. Its a very expensive not used much room. So common sense prevailed and we have an.........activity room.......for the little guy. Joles is right about the toilet being central....its good and for me I get embarrassed about going to the toilet near people.... so that was my thought and over here that would be a single leaf brick wall ....not quite so sound proof............ anyway this will be a fantastic family home with alot of nice spacious areas and good sized rooms.... All the best.........................K Re: Exterior Colours 23Sep 04, 2008 10:29 pm Thanks for your comments Joles!
We're planning to house the vaccum and cleaning stuff in the storage area under the staircase (there's a door from the living room). Good point about the spa baths, we hardly ever (never!) use the one we have in our current house. We have been talking about removing the spa from our ensuite and replacing it with a dressing table and mirror so that I have a place for my makeup/moisturiser/etc, and can put on my face in the morning without disturbing hubby's beauty sleep. We didn't put a built-in robe in the guest room because of the dimensions of the room and the location of the windows - putting the built-in on the wall near the study would have made the room too narrow and the other walls had a window next to them. So we just put it in the too hard bucket and decided to deal with it later Doesn't sound like a great plan though! Re: Exterior Colours 25Sep 05, 2008 11:13 am Hi Jooliet,
thanks for posting the plan Iooks lovely! I agree with the upstairs bathroom - I have kids and I would seperate the toilet Nice WIR!!! How dare hubby take you shoe room great job! Paula Re: Exterior Colours 26Sep 05, 2008 11:44 am Wow its huge!! The front facade is amazing, but just a warning you will have sticky beaks like me driving past really slowly to check it out!
I love the floorplan! It would be so much fun to decorate such a massive house, you lucky thing! Re: Exterior Colours 27Sep 05, 2008 3:10 pm I’m sorry jooliet….I haven’t had time to look over your plans.

Thanks Sharee - I'm sure it's not going to be much fun trying to keep the place clean though! Michelle I’m sorry jooliet….I haven’t had time to look over your plans. No worries Michelle! gweluphome Jooliet when do you think building will start? Have you got costings and inclusions etc back from your builder. We received quotes from a few builders and have narrowed it down to one. We've already got DA and CC - So now it's a matter of finalising the contract and then hopefully we'll get cracking in the next month or so! Just can't wait! After a bit of tweaking hopefully into council and then we can draw up working drawings and then back to council and then hopefully we will start something by Chrissie.
What a long drawn out process.....but we new it would take 6 months from the architect to start time. It will then probably take 12months to build....... Thanks for the compliment on my boys photo by the way..... How very exciting, you should be starting well before chrissie then? Re: Exterior Colours 32Sep 05, 2008 8:47 pm We actually started seeing our architect last June! So it has taken us 18 months to get where we are now!
We bought our land in April 2007 and initially we had hoped to be done by March this year, all ready to move in time for our wedding... little did we know!!! My goal is to get the slab in by Christmas!... more realistic expectations this time! Re: Exterior Colours 33Sep 05, 2008 9:14 pm On the separate toilet issue.. I have put my separate toilet into the main bathroom because I prefer a nice big open bathroom and I just prefer to use the toilet in a nice open room rather than the tiny box it was on our plans. Also our plans didn't have a basin in the separate WC so we would have had to add one and we preferred to just make a nice big main. It's also useful to have somewhere to sit undressing the kids or reading the paper while they're in the bath!
I also noticed how far your powder room was from the guest bathroom, that was the first thing I noticed. You could fit a tiny ensuite in there if you wanted, for such an amazing house I think it would be worth it. The shower off the powder could become a walk in linen in the laundry. Could you split that storage room so that you still have a place for shoes and coats near the entrance? Agree that it's a fantastic house!
