Browse Forums Home Finance 1 May 23, 2020 4:37 pm Hi all, Hope everyone’s keeping safe! I‘m looking to build a home in Virginia Grove with my partner. This will be our first home together. We are both needing to organise our finances. I have spoken to the bank previously and got a preapproval however it will shortly expire. I have a few questions if someone can give me some guidance as I’m new to all of this and I am a little lost as there is so much to take in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 1. Would you recommend going through the bank directly or broker? 2. What broker in Adelaide would you recommend? 3. Roughly how much deposit is needed combined? Obviously depending on the build but atm I have $40k saved and he has $20k... 4. Does anyone know who has the lowest interest rates atm? I’ve looked on finder.com and it has well bank, ING, Suncorp etc. Has anyone went through these small banks before? 5. My partner currently has a personal loan through Westpac in which he has about 11k left. How could we go about this? Does this affect our home loan? Thank you in advance everyone! I would love to chat to anyone who is currently building at Virginia Grove! 🙂 Re: RECOMMENDATIONS: Adelaide Brokers! 2May 23, 2020 4:43 pm Hello, full disclosure I am a broker but strongly recommend you find one near you - for starters ING are great but they don’t do building loans, at all! The interest rate depends on the % you borrow and the total loan, and often brokers can get under the table discounts. And the question around paying off the loans - again depends on your incomes, there’s no straight forward answer unfortunately. Brokers are trained to navigate these options in a way bank staff with heavy targets just don’t have time to, as well as being unable to access the calculators & policies that might allow you to borrow more at other lenders. Try Nani Johnston, I think her business is called High Rise Finance but if you google her I’m sure you’ll find her. I know she has expert skills and care. Best of luck! Hi Bec, Thank you for your quick response! I was hoping you would respond to some of my questions as I saw how informative you were on other forums! Would you definitely suggest a broker for this process? To be honest, I feel quite lost and don’t know where to begin! I’ve got the land on hold to get finances in place and need to speak with builders etc. I just looked her up, I will give her a call on Monday! Thank you so much!
